Like I said as long as they call me Mrs so and so or for Gab's good friend's I am even ok with nthem calling me Laura
The ma'am just makes me feel old,it is polite and mannerly,but it would drive me nuts,being called ma'am day in and day out.
On a funny note Gab had her dance teache for school classes yesterday and in dance they call her by her 1st name,so when she walked ino class she slipped up and called her by her 1st name instead of Miss....,which isn't ok for school
I live in the south but am from Maryland. My DD goes to a private school and is expected to use "Ma'am and Sir" in addressing teachers. I don't have a problem with it.. as I think it's very respectful sounding. Since they have to say it at school.. why not at

In the south the kids ARE raised saying "Yes Ma'am" and "No Sir"...every grandma on the block would straighten you out if you were disrespectful! LOL!
