Yours are really good too! I think summer school is meant more as a PUNISHMENT for the kid instead of an actual learning time..well for MOST anyway! You can hold that threat over them to make them buckle down during the year! LOL!
I love working with them too! I'm an ABA therapist and it's soo rewarding! Can you tell hubby's out of town and I'm off today? I'm burning up the boards! LOL!
Applied Behavior Analysis...basically teaching a child to give expected results in return for praise and reward...I don't go into the schools, I work for the local Community Mental Health Services and do private therapy in-home. The term ABA is very narrow as a specific kind of trainiing, but it's easy to explain. I'm actually trained in several different kinds, to tailor to different child's needs and development levels.
I actually got into behavior modification studies as a result of having two very spirited kids and trying to learn ways to help THEM! Unfortunately they know all my tricks now and I get tons of eyeball rolling when I put on my 'therapist' hat! What's funnier is seeing THEM try to use my techniques on their unknowing friends!
