It's an overnight trip, it takes around 5 hours to get there from here.

And they are not staying at the Greenbriar LOL.  Becca came home and said it was way out of the orchestra's price point.

We pass by it when we're driving out to the IL's.  I would love to do a weekend with dh there someday.  When the girls are gone.

Cheryl, a boss of mine back in Michigan used to vacation at the Greenbrier every year, it always sounded wonderful when he would come back with his stories of the time there! I hope Becca has a good time, and I can't believe Kristen only has 6 weeks left of the semester before she is home for the holidays!!

I know- this year has flown.  Kristen will be done with her 1st semester in college in 6 weeks.  We go to get her ( I think we do, and then the lady who lives an hour away will take them back) in 3 weeks.

Finally have a clue as to what Becca's doing in 3 weeks.  They're playing in Covington at the Greenbriar resort (that's a really pretty hotel) on Friday the 17th.  Leaving after school on the 16th.  I'd love to see them, they are about 2 hours from Kristen's school and I'm assuming we have to drive there to get her on the 17th.  We'll see.

Got food for dinner for the rest of the week.  I think the family's going to mutiny if I make them eat pasta, mexican or chili one more time.  But it's pasta tonight b/c Becca has music lessons and we won't be home until 6.  Tomorrow they all want to go to the last home game, and I honestly don't feel like cleaning up a huge mess from dinner at 10pm.  Even if it is a Friday night.  So chili it is.

On the job front- I got an application for a city dispatcher job.  24 page application :P  I sent out 20 some odd resumes over the last month, and have slowly been getting responses back from what I filled out.  This is only an application, but now my foot's in the door :)

And I have to get a copy of my high school transcript (maybe all I need is my diploma- that would make life much easier).  I know I could do it- it would mean crazy hours but the pay isn't bad at all.  And if I get into the city system, one would think it would be that much easier to find other jobs within the city.

We had a long talk with both sets of parents (seperately) and neither of them want stuff.  I'm glad that we aren't exchanging a list of stuff people don't really want or need but its stuff that makes for good gift giving.  Gifts are suppose to be thoughtful and not a gimme list.  We're trying to get back to that.  My ILs are avid readers so we decided to pick out and send them books rather than a gift card to a book store.  They never buy books in hardcover so anything rather new will be a safe bet.  I found the perfect book for FIL ( DH mentioned he would like to read it too, so he's also getting a copy).  We're sending them some of their favorite wine also.

I just ordered tickets today to take DH to see William Shatner in a one man show-DH will be thrilled- and its a nice night out for the both of us- and it is right after the holidays -so a pefect stocking stuffer.

I'm still waiting for inspiration to strike with my parents.

That dinner sounds wonderful Mindy!! Yay for Kayleigh on the scholarships, Jordyn hasn't had time lately to do that as she was over the summer and she needs to get back to it. And we are still dealing with the ants in the house, not many anymore, just a few here or there, but DH wants her to completely gut and clean her room... Would love a day or two off of school/work to help out with that.

Hi everyone. Tracy, how on earth did it get to be November? YIKES.

We have no school the rest of the week. We are going stir crazy.  I feel like I"m wasting time since we have no damage and never lost power.  At least today I have something to do. Our non-power-restored friends are coming to dinner (a couple, 4 kids 15-8, and their dog).   So I went grocery shopping this morning and will spend the afternoon cooking.  I'm making manicotti, meatballs, chicken parm and salad.  I even picked up a half price Halloween decorated cookie cake for dessert.  I'm looking forward to having company after the boredom of the week.

Kayleigh is giving her room a good cleaning and applying for scholarships. Ian is reading and studying and emailing his teachers to ask about work.

Hope you are all having a great day!

wow, good for you Heather! I am just beginning to do serious holiday shopping/planning. I have started the list for the kids for the in-laws and am making my list of what I've bought already and what I hope to get for the girls, and everyone else. I am being very selective this year on gifts for the kids and parring things down because of clutter, and redefining a few things for life in general, its definitely a challenge this year. I'd love to be able to get Jordyn a few college shirts or stuff, but not knowing if we will be able to make a decision before the first of the year is challenging to me right now.

Junk food hangover!  I'm dragging.  Poor DH had to leave at 4:30 to be to an out of state client site by 7.  This morning is just whatever followed by grocery shopping, school, and laundry.  The dog did not handle being alone yesterday well so I hesitate to leave her for a long period of time today.

I'm feeling pretty good about it being November.  I felt like we spent all of August and September and some of October focused on the move. The past 2 weeks felt like we were back to living our life instead of organizing our lives.  Our TX vacation is planned for December and most of the holiday shopping is done and wrapped.   November should be relaxing.

I am sure just about everyone is having a Halloween hangover today, at least I know our house is.  Jordyn went to a bonfire at one of the cheerleader's houses after her second cheerleading practice last night and didn't get home til 11 and she had a test today, so we'll see what kind of mood she's in today when she gets home.  The rest of us were up and ready to go this morning.  I have a meeting at 10:00 today, a nap at lunch planned, then home for dinner of chicken and dumplings, bath for the kids and I am hoping an early bedtime for me.

Have a great day!
