from another board-
According to a recent iVillage survey, 61% of moms say they spend more time with their kids than their own moms spent with them, and 74% disagree with the statement that modern moms have it easier than moms of previous generations. Today's mom might be called an Alpha Mom or a Slacker Mom depending upon her style of parenting. Is this just the media's way of defining motherhood and trying to dictate what the measure of a good mom should be? What happened to good old common sense parenting? Do these labels make you feel as if you're dealing with the junior high school cliques all over again?
Many women are saying that it's time to get rid of the guilt trip and to just be the best parent you can be. So, is it easier to parent today? How are you similar to your own mom and how are you different? And here's the kicker -- do you think you're a better mom than your mom was? (It's okay to say yes. We promise not to tattle.)

Great Question!!!
I so hate that people are trying to say how we should be as parents.
