Very aggravated by the bailouts.

Okay, I know it's helping save some jobs, but what about everybody else????

We're losing 2 teacher positions at our school next year. (I'm safe, I'm just saying...)

Uh-oh..what are the problems?

I will have my same planning period next year. I had 1st hour planning the past 2 years, and 5th hour this year--I prefer 1st hour (would rather 7th hour even more). But the teacher that got 1st hour this year went ask if she could have it again and was told the schedule was already made with no changes.

OH WELL!!!

We are switching from a 6 period day to a 7 period day, only instead of giving that extra period to kid contact time, they are giving it to the teachers as an extra planning period. Then our kids are only going to get 1/2 a year of science and 1/2 a year of social studies. WTH!!!! Their only elective option if they are not in choir or band is general music. Every kid will have two periods of language arts, two periods of math, pe, music, and social studies or science. Really makes you want to go to school don't you think? NOT!

Oh no...why are y'all losing so many? Is it teachers you are losing or positions?

We are losing (possibly??) 4 teachers, but only 2 positions, 2 will be refilled.

Crazy!!

1st, 2nd, & 3rd grades only get a half year of science & social studies (and they change how they do it every year....4 1/2 weeks one-4 1/2 weeks the other; one nine weeks one-one nine weeks the other; one semester one-one semester the other).

But that's crazy for middle school.

A school where I interviewed (another parish) had block scheduling, and had 90 minutes math, 90 minutes ELA, 90 minutes science one day, the next day it was 90 minutes math, 90 minutes ELA, 90 minutes social studies. The science teacher taught every day, but would switch student groups each day; same with social studies.

So, if I had taken the job, I would have have group A for 90 mins of math and 90 mins of science and group B for 90 mins of math on Monday. Then, on Tues I would have group A for 90 mins of math, group B for 90 mins of science and 90 mins of math.

The ELA teacher did social studies.

We are losing 8 teachers. Our school districts budget is about 9 million short so we are seeing huge staff cuts.
