How important is YOUR appearance to you?? What about your tween/teen?
Do you spend time getting yourself dressed, hair done, make up on etc...each morning!

I prefer to leave the house with my make-up done.
How important is YOUR appearance to you?? Well, to go to work I try to look decent, but I NEVER look in the mirror & think, dang, I look good, it's more like, that'll do, let's go!!!
My appearance and that of my family is very important to me. I don't have to be made up when I leave the house but I am always presentable. Never in house shoes or pj bottoms (nor will I allow my children). I always wear mascara and lipgloss and on a good day I'll have on tinted moisturizer. I do full face makeup for church and other events. I'm bit more high maintenance than most women I know. I get a blow out at the salon weekly. My nails and toes are done once a month (I used to go twice a month until I started wearing gel on my nails. Gel lasts longer) in the winter and my toes are done twice a month in the summer. I get my eyebrows threaded every two weeks and I get my "princess" waxed every 6-8 weeks.
My daughter doesn't really care about anything other than her hair and nails. She gets a blow out twice a month and a manicure once a month. She paints her own nails every other day it seems. I have to constantly remind her to apply Burts Bees and lipgloss or just BB's. I wish she'd get her eyebrows shaped.
My ODS is VERY into his appearance now (we made it through the nasty boy stage). DH and the boys get their
I do put on make-up and fix my hair.....but that time is only 10-15 minutes.. im easy. lol
This is an ever-evolving topic for me. I used to be of the "always made up" ilk, but not really so much anymore. I live in a town that is very tourist-y, and that really makes it easier to be casual, no matter where we go. I am always clean/showered, and I am diligent about things like taking care of my skin (moisturizer every day, twice a day, etc), but I have relaxed hugely on feeling the need to be made up every single time I leave the house. I am actually much more confident in my own skin as I have aged, and I feel like I look pretty good au natural (either that or my eyesight is going, lol).
I do love to get fancied up though, I enjoy doing my hair and wearing nice clothes, enjoy makeup, etc. I just don't feel the need to do it every day since most days we are staying home. If I am working, I will put on just a touch of makeup but with long hair I can easily pull it up and look professional, in fact I prefer that for work rather than wearing it down. I am comfortable at soccer practice in casual clothing and no makeup, but for an actual game I'll put on some nice shorts or jeans and will wear makeup (though I may put on a cap, instead of doing my hair...I have some very cool ballcaps that are very cute!) Really it just depends on where I am going, what I am doing. Not so much who I will see, I was looking HORRIBLE the other day at the store and saw someone I knew in every aisle, but chatted with each one and didn't care how I looked!
No salon stuff other than hair trims every 6 weeks or so, I color my own grey, I pluck my own brows (and do so every other day or so), take care of my own nails (keep them short, paint my own toes), I adore getting facials but the lady I used to go to moved and I haven't replaced her, can't afford it anyway!
My kids are basic and clean, not fussy kids. My daughter does enjoy being dressed up and wearing a bit of lip gloss (she's only 10, no makeup other than that yet) but she's also just as comfortable in her disreputable boots and jeans, so she's flexible! She's sporty or girly, depends on the situation. She enjoys looking nice but honestly doesn't stay looking nice for long! My son is not at all into his looks, but he generally looks good, with a few reminders to comb his hair!
I think we're a pretty low maintenance family overall.
I wear and buy hats all the time. I love them!
I will also throw on a pair of big sunglasses (the IL residents call them my "Hollywoods") they cover up so much!! LOL
Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
Neither Sherina nor I are high maintenance; I get my hair relaxed every 2 months & wash it every week; I wash hers weekly but no chemicals for her naturally curly hair, though I may have to look into getting it cut into a style!
As far as nails & makeup:
My daughter is 11 and in the 6th grade. I would allow her to wear clear mascara and a lightly colored lipgloss. She's not NEARLY interested yet. She does wear lipgloss though (i get the ones from Bath and Body works when they are on sale. they are glittery) I will always encourage her to go light with makeup. I am thinking by the 8th grade she'll want to wear mascara and eyeliner. Maybe some pressed powder to cover blemishes.
I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until I was 16, but I started wearing it in the 7th grade. Imagine the bathroom at the jr high BEFORE school. There were TONS of girls applying makeup. And after school, there were the same girls in there taking it off. LOL!! I don't want my daughter to have to do that. I would rather I help her pick out colors that match her skin, purchase her makeup (rather than she share with her friends ewww) and teach her how to apply it.
I prefer to leave the house... conscious.
No, just kidding, I do dress in what I call a classic style, so I don't worry about keeping up with trends and I don't feel too guilty about spending a touch more on my clothes so they'll last more than one season, since I fully expect them to, and I do put in an effort to not look slovenly.
