1. Everyone is soooooo supportive, never any attacking and saying "your way is wrong" or "you are a bad parent because", we all accept that there are many ways to parent happy healthy children.
2. It is a really active board, always can find something to read.
3. The knowledge that I am not alone and that I'm not the only one with a kid who thinks $200 jeans are a good deal or that I'm so mean for not letting her do something.
Dislikes
1. That everyone lives so far away and I can never get to meet anyone.
2. That I don't have enough time to hang out here.
3. That after you get to know people they move on and you lose contact and its like missing a real life friend. I wonder what they are up to, how their kids are doing, etc.
three things I like about this board There is always someone here that has some advice my friends are here i enjoy meeting new people
Three things that I dislike about this board Its hard to search for a post Finding a thread that is not visitable on the first page is difficult The third one is hard to come up with so i will just say two.
the CL's do an awesome job in keeping this board hoppin'(believe me, I know other boards and the CL's don't do their job and the board gets really, really slow and boring)
1. The camraderie between all of the women on this board (although the occasional spats keep it interesting:O)
2. How supportive we all are of each other in all aspects of our lives, not just in parenting
3. Knowing that I'm not alone in dealing with issues regarding this age! LOL!
Three things I dislike:
1. Because I'm too guilty/cheap to pay for a full membership, not only do I get to have a cute siggy but it's also too time consuming to click on each message individually..that's why I don't DYK with you guys!
2. We all live so far apart that we'll never get to meet in person!
3. I can't think of anything else negative...I just love it so much!
LOL...I *was* one of those (see my post). It was just so difficult to know that I have an immature 10 year old and be discussing issues on a board that includes teenagers. ACK! But, I'm okay with it now. It's just weird that iVillage has one-year-olds, then 2 & 3, then 4 & 5, then 6 & 7, then 8 & 9, then it jumps to 5 ages starting with 10 year olds to almost driving...lol.
But, it's okay now! ;o) And a good thing on that is you don't have to "move up" as quickly.
People here are non-judgmental, which I haven't found to be true on other message boards.
There's always a friend close by if I need help.
It's fun to know there are other moms with similar circumstances as mine.
This board is fairly run by the CL's.
I haven't found much i don't like...well, except could someone explain the "DYK" threads and why they're so long?? :) I haven't had time to figure it out, I guess.
Thanks everyone for listening to all my issues and helping me!!
The DYK thread is a thearpy thread. Its a place for stream of consciousness posts and just chitchatting. It is so long because its almost like a live chat but done in a succession of posts. So if you really want to know someone its a good place to hang out but can be hard to keep up with. You have to accept that sometimes you just jump in. Its a good place to just say what you are doing today, gripe about the weather, talk about something funny, vent when you are feeling down. Its great for stuff you wouldn't start a new post for but would like to tell someone. Because lots of people answer your posts it does get very long very fast. Its not for everyone and I've had to drop out lately because I couldn't keep up with my new job but its a fun pastime and very addictive.
