A bit tired, and my back is still pretty sore.  Getting back into the swing of things at work.  I have a few projects I am working on, and a telephone conference at 1:00.  Jordyn is at home enjoying her last week of before school starts, nothing planned during the day, but she has work tonight.  I have a cheerleading booster club meeting, hoping DH can be home to watch the kids as I couldn't secure a babysitter.  If not, I at least need to go and drop off a t-shirt and drop off money for various things.  Not sure what's for dinner, we'll be playing it by ear tonight.

Have a great day!

I hope your back is feeling better soon, Tracy.

It's a nice day here, sunny and should be around 80'ish.  It's that summer vacation day that all the appointments are. Dh is out getting tires for his durango.  I had my checkup at my midwife's this morning, Kayleigh is going to the dentist, Ian has the othodontist and a haircut. I'll probably take him out for ice cream in between.   I may go to the movies tonight, it's $5 tuesday.

Mindy, I've been meaning to ask, how are things going with DH and jobs?

Hi everyone, doing an extended stint at the desk at church/work today. The admin is out and it helps the ministers to have someone around to answeer the phone and the door. There are volunteers to take care of other things around the building. I'm working on admin type stuff for the family while I man the desk. Makes me feel productive and makes up for the fact that I slept in this morning because I didn't get to sleep until after 3 this morning. :smileytongue:

Megan is out with friends and Evan is finishing his list for today so he can meet up with friends later this afternoon. Evan will probably be gone until after dinner so it will be just the other three of us. Evan's first day of school is tomorrow but it's a half day and they pretty much just walk through their schedule and meet their teachers. He starts school for real Thursday. Megan has orientation for an hour and a half tomorrow and I get to fight the urge to scream every time I have to write out yet another check while I buy gym uniforms, yearbooks, PTO memberships, etc. and wait for her.

I'm thinking about doing breaded, baked chicken breasts for dinner. We'll see how I feel when the time comes. I'm fairly energized right now but who knows what kind of shape I'll be in by 5:30.

I'm hoping to attack my area of the bedroom when I get home from work. I have a planner for Evan that I purchased in Oxford this summer and it seems to have gotten swallowed up by the clutter demon that resides on my side of the bedroom. Dh has a full-fledged clutter monster on his side. :smileyfrustrated:. Time to sort and process laundry too.

Have a great afternoon and evening everyone!

Oh, I almost forgot... I have to do a thankful Tuesday... I am very thankful that we are getting financial aid towards the kids swim club fees and the club is also giving us until the end of the year to pay what wee currently owe them. I was very afraid they were going to have to quit swimming because we couldn't afford it. I'm reworking the household budget to set aside money monthly to cover the dues, etc. for next season and get us back on track in general. Much easier task now that dh is getting consistent pay. Anyone know a good budgeting tool (paper, app, or otherwise)?

I just use a plain old spreadsheet myself, but Dave Ramsey has some nice budgeting sheets on his website that i have found useful from time to time.

Ann, how do you make the quinoa for the salad? I am still experimenting with it and haven't exactly found a niche for it quite yet.

I don't know if you have a rice maker, but I make quinoa in there.

Zeph had a doctor appointment this morning.   Then I surprised him by taking us to see Paranorman.  Nothing says breakfast like popcorn:smileyhappy:  After we sold back some soccer gear and picked up his perscription.  I made lunch and then took a nap.  I stayed up too late last night reading The Lost Symbol.  I'm enjoying it more than DaVinci Code.

This afternoon we headed to the ILs for the dog to run and play. He is going to love the backyard!  I also wanted to peek at the master bedroom paint color.  Its not the deep green I was expecting.  I don't dislike it, but not what I had envisioned.  He still had 2 or 3 more coats to put on, so maybe the final color will be deeper.  The room was mauve with matchy abstract wallpaper, so an improvment either way!

I had a bacon, tomato, avacado, egg scramble planned for dinner, but I don't know that I am in the mood to fry bacon.

Thanks Tracy, nothing really to report.  He's been in touch with a couple of headhunters, they describe these great jobs and then an interview never materializes. Meanwhile he keeps waiting for this "business" to take off and really , it is not going to and it's time for him to get any kind of job to fill in for some of the retirement money that we're living off of now.

:smileytongue:

That just about describes today.

Jasper's been living under the sink for about a week now.  Not eating, drinking very little.  So I decided to take him to the vet.  Dh took the day off b/c I just had this horrible feeling he was going to have to be put down.  Before that- dh calls the neighbor (who was having just a wonderful day herself) because we can't put this animal down without telling the former owner that he needs to be put down.

We go in and have bloodwork drawn.  So already we're looking at a large bill. Vet finds nothing but anemia. And a fever.   We then have him tested for FIV- just because we don't know, and that's something he could give the other animals.  That comes back negative.  Then the vet starts saying that it could be cancer- with the few symptoms he has it's a possibility. And they could do x-rays.  Or we could go home with steriods and antibiotics b/c he might just have a virus (that's lasted a week?  Giving him anemia?  I don't think so).  So then I talk to dh.  If we take him home and we just give him meds- that's prolonging for a week (that's how long they'd treat him) of us putting him down.  Kristen starts classes Thursday.   Kristen has no clue that we've even had to go there with the cat b/c I told Becca "NO POSTING ON FACEBOOK". Don't want the kid worrying over her first week of classes about the cat.  Because I know she will.

So since the cat's been living under the sink for a week, and I just hate seeing him like this- I tell the vet that I'd like to just put him down.  I'm feeling like a horrible ogre.  Maybe I should have done treatment.  Even though I have no job and we've got expenses (including college) Sigh.  Signed papers, had the vet give him an injection.  Chose not to take ashes home.  (and then Becca said that maybe she would have liked them- SIGH).

Becca has since texted and facebooked Kristen, we have heard nothing.  Sigh.  She doesn't check her voicemail- EVER.  Drives me nuts.  At least she didn't call immediately- we can at least have a calm discussion with her over what's happened today.

My neighbor came over and said her sister-in-law took it well.  And made me feel better when I told her what I did- I don't feel quite so evil anymore.  There just comes a point where it's just not worth it IMHO for an animal.

Tonight I'm working on a resume.  I have another job interview either tomorrow or Thursday (it's an open house at a call center).  The hours are better and the pay's better.  We'll see, this company only has 300 openings and I have a feeling there's at least twice as many applicants as jobs, but I can't say I didn't get it if I don't even try. At least it's something to take my mind off the horrible day today.
