Good morning ladies, how are you this morning?
Okay, so yesterday didn't go that great for many, but today is a new day!!
Of course I hate to start off my post negatively, but seriously, DH's insomnia is killing me!! I am NOT a morning person and this is soo not helping. Its been going on now for a few weeks and I haven't had a decent night's sleep either, between him being in and out of the bedroom at all hours of the night, the TV on in the living room, etc. I am soooo looking forward to this weekend since he's staying home and I am taking the kids out of town for Jordyn's cheer competition. I may actually get a full, uninterrupted night's sleep!!
The house is a mess, got a call from DH this morning asking if the dishes were clean or dirty in the dishwasher. Clean, I text messaged Jordyn last night to put them away before she went to bed, because I was intending on being up early to do dishes and pick up the house because I went to bed early last night. Apparently she didn't do them, so I can imagine the scene at 8:07, DH making her put them away before she left for school at the normal 8:15 because she is definitely my child and definitely not a morning person either. Hopefully that means he is at least doing dishes this morning, apparently men with insomnia don't clean in the middle of the night like women with insomnia, go figure!
So, coffee is getting me through the day again today. I have a telephone conference at noon, that will take up my lunch hour today, so no nap for me. I have paperwork to work on and a few small projects at work. I am waiting on comments on legislative bill analysis' to close out one of them today. I had planned on a roast in the crock pot for dinner, but unless DH does it, it'll be leftovers for dinner tonight and I'll move the roast to tomorrow night.
And to end this post on a good note, I checked Jordyn's AP handout yesterday and it appears that even though she is taking 4 AP classes, actually I think 5, only 3 of them have an AP test associated with them. I am crossing my fingers that that means only 3 tests to pay for since, well, at $89 a pop, that's a lot of money to come up with in the next 2 months along with all the other senior expenses. I need to verify with her how many tests she's taking and when the deposit is due tonight when she gets home.
Have a great day!!
Another wet gray day, but it suppose to be near 60! I have a couple of windows open and the house smells fresh. Of course that could be becasue I don't have 2 stinky pups by me right now too. They both need a bath!
School this morning and afternoon broken up with bowling in-between. Zeph needs to prebowl for Saturday's league since he'll be missing it to work with a carbon sequestration expert Saturday. He's got his geography final today and I know he hasn't studied. I think he expects it to be easy. It's not easy.
MIL has decided to only stay with us 2 nights and with SIL the rest of the time. I think that is a good plan. BUT last time she stayed with SIL it didn't go well. It's not that I don't want to see her, I'm happy she will be in town. I am feeling stressed about setting the right tone for this visit. If I'm too hostessy she'll expect it each time, but I don't want to come off as rude. She and FIL have metioned a 2 week visit this summer and I want to set ground rules now.
No ideas on dinner or lunch, but blts sounds like a good possibility for one meal.
Heather, you mentioned on the DSG board using the cord from the laptop to the TV to stream shows. Did you do it with the weird ended cord and then setting the screen settings to the TV? We are still debating getting rid of the cable bill and streaming netflix or hulu through one of the game systems we have, but would love to get the regular channels through the TV and DH didn't buy the internet ready TV when we upgraded a year ago. And not that we watch local channels often, but we do like watching sporting events or the news on occassion. What did you do then for those?
We used a HDMI cable from the laptop to the HDMI TV port. That carries the video and audio. DH's laptop does not have a HDMI port so if we use that one we use a VGA cable and audio cable (VGA does ot carry audio). Your TV has to have one of those 2 ports and your laptop the matching port. We still get our news via MSN and then search for any deeper stories we want from their headlines. We don't watch any sports. Sports are the one flaw to the stream it plan, since you need to watch it after the fact.
The playroom TV is hooked up to Netflix via the Wii but not to the satellite just gaming systems and dvds (off the Playstation). Sometimes, we still use the laptop upstairs to stream Netflix via the TV. That's how we've been watching Merlin. I was excited to get satellite back, but it is an absolute time sucker for me and there are things I would rather be doing wiht that money. When our contract is up, we will go cancel and go without a TV service again.
Took me to the afternoon to get over here. Katie is still home sick. She might mbr able to go back to school tomorrow. I will make sure she is fever free tonight and it wil be 24 hours at that point. Tim woke me up about 3 times last night and so I woke up tired. I took a nap this morning. After I got up I ran a few errands leaving Katie home even though she wanted to go. I have downloaded some music onto Natalie's iPod touch. I have cleaned up our downstairs room. Tim and his buddy are going to practice down there today and it needed to be straitened up. I still need to wipe down the bathroom. I am doing laundry and have cleaned two quilts that are hanging up drying. I,still to,take care of my kitchen and I have several baskets of towels, blankets and sheets to fold. I have a lot to,clean up that will carryover inot tomorrow. Natalie is,on a field trip and won't be home until 4:20ish this afternoon. I will need to run over and pick her up and then I am taking Matthew to the mall so he can look at fye and Hot Topic. Nothing I don't think.
Dinner if leftovers.
I forgot to mention in my post that I am done with the taxes and they have been exiled and accepted. We will hopefully get our refund before Spring Break. We are hoping to take a trip to Washington DC. Kids are excited and I have to say, so am I. They didn't get to go on the 7th grade trips to DC due to cost. Just too much money and we can take our whole family for less then they are charging for one kids.
Hi everyone, much better day today!
Today, I'm celebrating 10 years of survivorship since I got my breast cancer diagnosis. Champagne later.
Work was good. 5 of the 12 kids in our class were absent! Then I got the good news that starting next week, I will be pushing into a regular first grade class with one of our self contained students for most of the afternoon from now on, with a teacher whose classroom I spent half the day in last year. Yippee! Minimal exposure to nightmare student from now on :) :) :)
Ian had a regular school day and has scouts tonight. Kayleigh had school and something after - I don't remember what she goes to on Tuesdays. She came home with the news that a piece of her ceramics will be displayed in an art museum in a neighboring county and there's an opening reception on Sunday.
Tonight, pot pie for dinner. Then, going to watch tv and write out some cards and do some paperwork.
Hope everyone had a smooth day and anyone who is sick will be on the mend soon

If you go, I'd love to hear where you stay. We've been tossing around DC/Gettysburg/Mt Vernon or Disney and I am stunned at what hotels cost. I wasn't able to find anything close to the sights for under $200 a night once taxes were added in. That is not including parking for the car. The ones I liked were all over $300. Who would have thought Disney would be less expensive?
Congrats on your milestone!
Check out the Ebassy Suites in Foggy Bottom. Very close to a metro station that takes you anywhere you need. We rented a car for a few road trips, Gettysburg, Mt. Vernon and a few others i cant think of right now. The hotel includes a good breakfast buffett.p>
