1) Have you started decorating your home yet? No but we purchased new LED lights and a blowup penguin for the front yard

2) Do you decorate inside and out? yes, but not much outdoors, just the new penguin and a few large lit snowflakes.

3) Is it a family affair or a one woman (or man) show? FAMILY!!! Dh does the lights on the tree, the kids and I do the ornaments, dh and kids do outside

4) Do you have a color scheme or theme? I used to do ivory and gold, this year we're sort of doing dark green and gold. The tree is always a jumble of ornaments we've collected from our travles, kids crafts, and gifts we've received. My favorite is a Christmas greeting from my grandparents on a Hallmark ornament that looks like a Walkman. They're still alive and I'm sure I'll love it even more when they're gone.

5) Do you have/or will you have a big tree or a small tree? It's usually about 6 or 7 feet tall. Our ceilings are 8 feet so it can't get much bigger than that

No

Just inside

3) Is it a family affair or a one woman (or man) show?

Family affair

4) Do you have a color scheme or theme?

I guess our "theme" would be Hallmark, since we get those ornaments every year.

1) Have you started decorating your home yet?

Nope, we leave our stuff up well past the New Year (until Epiphany), so putting it up this early makes it get old. I'll start with some stuff next week probably, and have the tree up by mid December. I do have Christmas music going a lot and will get out the dishes (my MIL gifted me with her Spode Christmas stuff last year, yeah!) this week.

2) Do you decorate inside and out?

Not really, no one would see the outside but us, not a lot of drive by traffic here in the boonies!

3) Is it a family affair or a one woman (or man) show?

Family, though dh loses interest fairly quickly.

4) Do you have a color scheme or theme?

Goodness no, I'm amazed by people who do who have kids! My tree is decorated in KID fashion, with ornaments they made, ornaments representing milestones or interests in their life, etc. I have many of MY old ornaments from childhood my mom gave me as well. It's great fun to reminisce every year as we decorate the tree. I typically buy an ornament that is the thing they were for halloween each year, so that's always fun to remember.
5) Do you have/or will you have a big tree or a small tree?

Ok, this is where I go WAAAHHHH in tears. We always but always have a living tree, not a cut tree, but a tree still in a pot and alive. We typically re-pot it each year and we've had trees last for up to 7 years! I don't like fake trees at all, but I also don't like cut trees in my house, we have a fire in the fireplace, it's messy, etc. Well, this past year our living tree just died with no warning! I simply can't afford to buy a new one (they are pricey, and only worth it if I can get multiple years from one tree). So I'm stuck and not sure what to do.

My current solution is to borrow a fake tree for indoors and then send the kids out with a chainsaw to cut down a cedar tree (there are gazillions out my back door) to put on the deck and decorate. I think it could be fun to have 2 trees, and even put some of the gifts outside on Christmas morning! So we'll see. It does mean I need to buy more outdoor lights though.

My DH hung lights on Saturday, and we put a wreathe on the front door, but that's it. We're Catholic, so we also have an Advent wreathe on the kitchen table with the 3 purple and 1 pink candle, and an Advent calendar.

2) Do you decorate inside and out?
Yes, both.

3) Is it a family affair or a one woman (or man) show?
It's a family affair except for the hard and electrical stuff, which DH does. He puts up the lights and the trees.

4) Do you have a color scheme or theme?
Yes, I usually do blue and white lights on the big huge tree in the family room, and colored lights on the smaller tree in the living room, and we do white lights outside.

5) Do you have/or will you have a big tree or a small tree?
We have 2 fake trees, LOL. They both look real, though. The big huge one goes in the family room, because we have soaring cathedral ceilings in there. It takes a ladder to decorate! It's our main tree; but we also put a small one up in the living room, just for decoration.

Finally--someone else who understands the tradition of keeping your Christmas decorations up for the full 12 days of Christmas (from 12/25-1/6)!

Adrianne, we are the same way. I'm Greek American (Parents born in Greece), and my DH is Italian American, and we always keep our tree up through Epiphany, or Three Kings Day. It's a huge holiday in Greece, and the way I grew up, it was part of Christmas, so it's not just a Catholic thing (I am Catholic now, but grew up Greek Orthodox). I've always believed that Christmas has 12 days. I don't get the "Taking your tree down the day after Christmas Day" thing. I thought people at least left it up through New Year's, but recently I've read posts where people just take it down right away. To me, that would be depressing, LOL.

That being said, we don't put ours up until the middle of December. I'd get sick of it by January 6th if we did. We do decorate the rest of the house, though.

It takes us at least a week to decorate,so the stuff is staying up for at least a month.I usually do it Thanksgiving weekend or the wek after. This year it seems to be the week after.I have to dig through the attic and after my stove stress on Thanksgiving I bagged that idea.Dh does all the lights.Gab and I do everything else.i also keep the tree up until around Jan 6th or 7th
