Can I join in the "I HATE school projects" club? My kids don't really ever learn anything from them and they cause way too much stress on the mind and the budget. Last year as a 7 year old, Megan was supposed to make a board game as one of her book projects!!!???? What's up with that? This year they're studying flowers so she had to make a flower and label all the parts. I do like her teacher's attitude about projects though... She's new to the district and didn't seem to keen on the flower project idea. Poor Megan spent at least 6-7 hours over 3 days cutting, painting, gluing, etc. When she got to school someone pushed her as she was walking into the building, the project fell and she lost two pieces (which lowered her grade). Ugggg! She was so upset that she wrote the teacher a note describing what happened and her teacher agreed to let her fix the flower and regrade the project. Still waiting on the grade. Her teacher also doesn't make them do complicated, time consuming book projects. They usually just have to fill out a questionnaire about the book and the questions are relevant and actually show that the students understand the book and how it fits into the genre they're supposed to be studying. WHAT A CONCEPT!!!!
