Thanks everyone for the well-wishes. Yesterday was a rough day for Austin. We did take Andrew over to get his braces off and then drove back home (about 50 miles round trip) and let him rest, then he and I headed back into the city for his appt. He did end up throwing up on the way home from Andrew's appt. I was stuck in traffic and had a difficult time getting pulled over for him-poor guy! He only kept down 3 sips of water all day, ran a lowgrade fever, and had a headache off and on. He was pretty lethargic at the appt, but the rapid strep was negative (they will call this a.m. if it turned in the night), but his throat looked pretty good. He acts exactly like this with strept so I was really surprised. Actually I was hoping it was something like could be treated with antibiotics so that he would be non-contagious for Christmas Eve (parents on both sides to come to our house). Dr. did give me some phenergan suppositories to help with his nauses and hopefully enable me to get some fluids down. We did run into Kroger to pick up some popsicles, gatorade, and chicken noodle soup. He started vomiting again almost as soon as I pulled out of my parking space! I gave him the suppository as soon as we got home and he did drink a bit of gatorade. He then fell asleep around 6 and slept until I got home at 9:45 (as soon as Dh got home I headed out to my hometown to have Christmas with my best friend, her mom, and my Mom). He woke up and went to bed and slept the rest of the night.
His temp was 99.9 this a.m. and he has had a popsicle and some gatorade. He looks much better and acts a bit better. He and his brother are playing PS2 together right now. Hopefully we are on the uphill swing and fingers crossed that this doesn't carry through to the rest of us. I am thoroughly cleaning house today!
Christmas Eve is a bit up in the air. If he isn't totally well, my parents (and possibly Dh's won't come). My mom is having surgery on the 27th and definately doesn't need to catch this. Plus my Dad is disabled and we will be helping care for him while Mom is in the hospital so He definately needs to stay healthy too! If it weren't for the surgery, my parents would come. They aren't afraid of picking up the kids germs. Dh's parents will decide today if they want to come or not.

Oh I know how you feel. We had it last week and it was a short 24 hr thing for everyone but our 2.5 yr old. I hope it is the short one for Austin too. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Wow, sounds like a nasty bug. Hope that it passes quickly. Stinks to be sick on Christmas.
