Update on hand....

I didn't know quite where to put this, but I didn't want it to get lost in another thread....because it hurts to type right now.

I have 2 completely different things. What my reg dr thought was a ganglion cyst is another type of cyst--still benign. The possible Keinbach's disease is actually a benign tumor that he won't do anything about at this time. The cyst--I had two options. Steroid shots starting today, one may get rid of it, may not. Should last at least 3 months, if it only lasts 2-3 weeks, he doesn't want to do it anymore. Second option was surgery, recovery is actually pretty quick on it.

So, I decided to go with the shots & see what happens. I could always do surgery later. But, it wasn't really wasn't HURTING, it was just a discomfort. Wearing the splint all week has actually been more of an aggravation than it was before. And having had the shot today, I'm in pain...but that will go away.

If the shots don't work, I could always plan the surgery around a school holiday (although we're planning Disney for Thanksgiving and they probably don't do surgery over Christmas--well maybe they do because another teacher at my school had surgery over Christmas last year, and there's always Easter which is early next year).

Nik has just finished 2 weeks of theatre camp, last night was their production of Cinderella. She loved camp, this week we're not scheduled for anything so we'll be going to the pool & I want to do a day trip to Bar Harbor which is about an hr. from here. next week Nik has dance camp & the week after we'll be getting ready for the wedding. We leave on the 10th to go, we can't wait to go to Vegas. Well, actually I can, Nik can't. I'm looking up things for us to do in Vegas w/Nik. Nik will be a flower girl in her brothers wedding. Hopefully I can post some pics when I get back if I ever learn how to. Seems like the summer is flying by. We keep making trips to our homestate 5 hrs. south because my mom has been in the hospital for 1 month now & was just moved to rehab. She doesn't seem to want to get better. I feel bad for dad.

What has Ally been up to this summer? Any good books to pass along? Has she gone to any camps? Dee

PS How's the hand feeling?

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Thoughts & prayers for her!

That camp sounds super fun. We looked into a couple drama camps here, but none worked out for us. Aly would love to do it, but I'm afraid she'll get "stage fright" and refuse to perform (she refuses to do things in front of an audience and when she was in dance, she'd always find some odd way of showing her discomfort on stage).

She enjoyed 3 camps this summer, though. The first one, she took 3 classes: Mexican food, Grossology, and Sewing. The second one was all about Ancient Egypt--we tried to get her in this class last year, but it was booked within a month of being announced. The third one was a little bit of everything including manners class. That was her favorite, and it was all day for 5 days (the others were 1/2 days for 4 days). We also considered an art camp, but that would probably throw off any chance we'll have of going on vacation and she's finally getting some downtime this summer.

My hand is doing better--it's still sore at the injection site and when I move my thumb in certain ways (such as folding socks..ouch!).

I hope y'all enjoy your trip to Vegas. I hear it's very family-friendly, but I haven't been, and what I've seen of it, it looks like a fun trip for adults...lol.
