How do you celebrate Valentine's Day in your house? Do you get something for your spouse? For your kids? Do anything special?

Just wondering. Haven't been a big VDay celebrator since we got married -- figuring our anniversary is more of a reason to celebrate, I guess. I will get dh a card, and maybe some small token gift, but I don't know what! I will give the kids each a big bag of candy and an iTunes gift card for the 12-yo, not sure what for the 8-yo.

Dh and I usually go out to dinner, although he has a class this Valentines Day so that may not happen.

I really don't like Valentine's Day!!!! I just don't have a good personal track record... One year there was a huge snowstorm and dh (my fiance at the time) couldn't make it for dinner. Another year my @#$%#@%$ boss made me work late and dh came and sat in my office with me. The last three years dh has been at a conference and this year he's going to be in freakin' Ethiopia! I'm beginning to think he plans this to get out of giving me a gift.

I usually do heart shaped waffles and special plates for breakfast and cut the kids' sandwiches in heart shapes. They also get a little gift and a card. This year Evan is getting an itunes gift card and Megan (7) is getting the book Horton Hatches an Egg and a stuffed Horton (Kohl's special - $10 total). I'm also going to stick a light stick in a paper heart like an arrow and write "You light up my life" on it and leave it on their pillow the night before. Sadly, I will get nothing... Dh gone and kids well, with no prompting from an adult I don't expect much. Maybe I'll treat myself to a manicure... *sigh*

Did I mention I really don't like Valentine's Day?
