Has anyone given any thought to summer vacation plans or have you made your plans already? I'm trying to deceide what to do this coming July so even if your not planning to go away this summer your ideas are more than welcome! We already have plans to go to Myrtle Beach at the end of Aug. before we head back to school, so we would like to do something different in July.

Our summer plans will be at our island home for the entire summer.

Each of our kids have weeklong camps during June (we get out of school at the end of May), We'll go camping on as many weekends in July and August as we can.

Well over spring break we're going to Williambsburg to the Great Wolf Lodge. We're going to go to Busch Gardens one day and Jamestown the other. The following weekend we're going to Ocean City MD where my dd has a meet. We're staying at a condo/hotel that has an indoor ice skating rink and pool that's right on the beach.

This summer my son is going away for a 3 week camp and my dd is going for 2 weeks to a gymnastics camp, her camp overlaps with his. Hubby and I want to do something then, but I don't know where we want to go yet.

My dd has gymnastics all the time during the summer. We can go away, but we just haven't figured out what to do yet. We've been thinking for a long time about getting a boat. We live on a river that leads to the chesapeake bay. That boat would be our vacation.

Hey Trish
there are so many things you can do in your own neighborhood. Check out some of the childrens family magazines they have different activities for kids. Or if you want travel around and check out other zoos. Jackie and I did that last year we went on a museum hunt. There are several zoos close to us. We also went through several museums..... just a thought. This summer since I have no money to take a week off. We are just going to do what we normally do. We are going to plan on going back to Sea World a couple of times. And then maybe to the beach. But thats about it. We are waiting until May hits anyway to see what is going to happen with our visitation.

We have a couple of small plans, I will be on maternity leave until the middle of June, so as soon as Jordyn gets out of school on Memorial Day weekend, her, I and hte baby will head up to Michigan to stay with my parents. While up there we are going to go to Mackinaw Island for the weekend with my brother and then also possibly hit Michigan Adventure or Cedar Point. Jordyn is attending drama camp for 2 weeks at the end of June. That is about it for right now. Once we know if and when DH will be home for his R&R we may plan something for that time also, but nothing as of right now. We won't do a large family vacation until DH comes back from deployment.

We (I) decided against going anywhere this summer. I was planning a big road trip to Chicago, then DD decided she would rather go to $800 summer camp, so we've decided to just hang around here all summer. I will be taking lots of extra long weekends (she'll spend part of the week with her Dad) and we have tons of festivals in town and there are festivals at some of the smaller towns locally as well. So we are just going to play it by ear and see what appeals to us. My parents will hopefully come and visit as well so that will break up the summer along with the 4 weeks of summer camp she's signed up for.

Next year we are planning to go out west and visit my parents in Manitoba

We are going to Disney from May 12-19. I'm pulling my kids out of school for the week, but then school ends 3 weeks later anyway.

As for the summer, my kids both go to sleep away camp, plus my youngest goes to the Outer Banks, NC with good friends of ours for a week. We'll probably head down to the IL's in Annapolis MD for a long weekend too (and probably head into DC while we're there).

My oldest starts band camp in August, so our time is limited.

Our summer is an incredible combination of craziness and laziness. Evan is going to sleepaway camp at the end of July and into August (2 or 3 weeks depending on whether or not he comes up with the $ for the 3rd week). Megan is going to a gymnastics camp 3 mornings a week. My aunt (dad's sister) has a timeshare in Steamboat Springs and my brother lives in Denver so my parents have reserved the condo for a week some time late June or early July depending on my aunt's priority and what other owners have chosen. We're hoping for the week of July 4th. Our church usually does a family weekend at a camp in Michigan and that's in late July.

On a daily basis, we'll probably enjoy the local pool, parks, museums, and beaches. We live just north of Chicago so those are plentiful. Evan will have swim practice at least once a day through mid-July so if we get to the pool by 1 we can get a shaded spot and camp out for the afternoon.
