How come the mornings I have time for a chit chat I have nothing interesting to say? Ah well...
Big news: it's RAINING in Texas! This truly is a big deal, we need it very badly. It's also blustery and colder, which I welcome only because I don't have to go out into it quite yet.
Quiet day today, thankfully. Need to go wake the kids up, we're all still getting used to the time change, I'm getting ready to do the elliptical, wake them up and get them started on math first. I have to work this afternoon, unfortunately another long drive, blah.
That's honestly IT, nothing else to do today, WOW! No soccer, no roping, nada nothing. Just going to listen to the rain fall and hope it lasts all day.

Yes, they do have crockpots with timers, but honestly the thought of uncooked food sitting there for hours icks me out (but that's probably my OCD talking).
However! I recently bought myself a new crockpot and it has a warmer feature, I choose high: 4 hours or 6 hours or low: 8 hours or 10 hours, then after that time is up, it automatically converts it to warming mode, so the food stays hot but basically quits cooking. Works well!
They say that if you are overcooking your food, then you aren't filling it up enough, either your food is too small for the crock or the crock is too big. You might consider getting a small crock for roasts and a larger one for soups and such. Once I learned that I have made an effort to FILL it, and things never overcook anymore. I just buy a larger cut of meat and freeze the leftovers or remake into another meal.
Who knew I could have an entire conversation about crockpots? Scary! Did you ever happen across the website from last year with 365 recipes (1 per day for an entire year)?? GREAT stuff, I miss her daily recipes but still use the archives often, made a pulled pork last night from there, and a black bean soup last week. Dh says he doesn't hate the crockpot anymore since I found that site.

I figured you'd know the answer Nancy, but didn't want to bother you with another email. :-)
I will definately look into a new one, it seems to be hit or miss with us, sometimes it turns out well and sometimes it doesn't, but the whole, if you fill it full enough seems to make sense.
My crockpot has selections for 4,6, 8, or 10 hours and then it goes to warm. The other choice is to buy a timer at the hardware store - the kind people use for Christmas lights. You plug it directly into the outlet, set the on and off times, plug your crockpot into the timer and presto!!! I think they're called programmable timers. Ours is analog and made by Intermatic. They're wesite calls it a lamp and appliance timer.

Ugh, the rain came in earlier than expected (at least that I expected) and the drive in was horrible.
hope you have a nice day.

Good morning!
Not much going on today; no one wants to play hooky for more than half a day, so no work for me until tomorrow afternoon.

*raising hand* Nancy, can you repost that website. I remember looking at it and thinking it was cool but I forgot to bookmark it.
TIA
Ami
P.S. I think we have the same crockpot. Mine does the same thing! :)
