I woke up early and made cinnamon rolls as a breakfast treat.  Zeph was excited to see a present at his place setting.  I found a parody board book of The Very Hungry Catepillar, which we read daily most of his baby and toddler years  and into preschool life.  It's called the Very Hungry Zombie and very clever in its word play and simplicity and packaged as a board book.  I also bought him some Cadbury Halloween eggs- disgusting, but he loves them!

This morning Zeph and I are making sugar cookie dough.  This afternoon we'll roll, cut, decorate, and bake the cookies.   We might watch a spooky movie this afternoon if there is time.

Tonight we are tagging along with Zeph and a friend followed by a late dinner and bonfire (wind permitting) at his friend's home.  I'm hoping DH and the dad hit it off. They know each other professionally, but are both pretty quiet in social situations.

Tonight we'll read out of the spooky legends for around the world book by jack o'lantern light.  DH and I are going to watch Cabin in the woods.

Hi everyone.  A little stir crazy here as we are home from school (and me from work) again due to the hurricane damage.  This morning, I got up and dressed early, did some errands and cleaning.  I have some appointments to make and bills to pay, then hopefully spend the afternoon catching up on reading.

Kayleigh might go and visit a friend later. Ian is taking all the rabbits out to play/exercise.  I'm hoping the trick or treaters don't show up early and in huge amounts due to no school, I didn't buy enough candy for extras.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween.

At work, working on a peoject. I am hoping to take a nap at lunch, was up quite late again and really tired. Jordyn was out late cheering at volleyball play offs, I haven't heard if they won or not to know if there are more playoffs we'll have to schedule in or not. I put chicken and wild rice soup in the crock pot this morning for an easy quick dinner tonight. Both girls have Halloween parties at school/daycare. Going to pick them up, get dinner and then get ready for T-r-Ting. Only about 1/4 of the houses in the neighborhood give out candy despite us having a pretty decent kid population, but its just enough for the little girls. We'll do that and then watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, baths then bed. Jordyn has high school cheer practice after school with the football players for a special pep rally Friday morning, then she goes directly to competitive cheer practice, they have a competition Saturday to get ready for. They are also doing a trunk or treat type thing tonight. Jordyn made her Wonder Woman costume last week for it, a very cute idea with a homemade red, white & blue tutu to go over her cheer shorts. Have a great one!!

I don't know how much longer he'll think it's fun to spend Halloween with us (parents rather than friends) so I'm soaking it all in and making the most of it!

Tracy, we used to get tons of kids in our neighborhood.  Now we don't get as many anymore.  One year we actually ran out of candy.  I think part of it is that 3 churches (including ours) have this huge halloween party and the kids go there instead of door-door.  But, our church canceled theirs this year, we usually do it on a big field next to church that is currently a mud pit thanks to Sandy.  So who knows how many kids might show up?

Becca and I will hand out candy.  I guess dh is going to the gym.  He had these grand plans of 4x/week- so far he's doing about 2.  He doesn't like getting up at 4am to go, I don't know, maybe if I went with him at 4 then he'd be more motivated to go.  But the thought of running at 4am doesn't really make me want to go. I have changed what he's been eating, I think it's healthier than he used to.

And I'm kind of annoyed at the orchestra parents association.  Becca's group is playing at the state music teacher's confrence in 2 weeks.  She had to pay b/c they're staying overnight.  I have gotten "0" emails, phone calls etc about it.  Shoot- I don't even know how much it's going to cost- I got a ballpark figure from Becca a few weeks ago.  Well- Becca and a couple of other kids got talked to yesterday by the teacher saying "you need to get your money in".  It would have been NICE to know when it was due!  I sent a check in with her.  Then I emailed whoever is in charge of email/finances.  Tried not to sound snarky in my email- but I sent them something weeks ago saying I wasn't getting emails about Becca's stuff last year.

And Becca wants to know why I don't want to be on the orchestra parents board.............

This will be the 4th Halloween we are at this house, the first year we went out to our old neighborhood because Jordyn and her BFF still went out with us and they wanted a lot of candy and DH gave out candy at our house.  We usually buy a combo pack of the full sized candy bars from Costco and never give all of them out, we usually only have 14 kids at best at our house.  Last year I did a combo of full sized for the bigger kids and halloween sized for the smaller kids.  This year I went ahead and got bags of the pirate booty popcorn since my kids love that and we can easily pack those for lunches with the left overs.  There are 3 or 4 large neighborhoods that everyone goes to because they do a whole big deal thing, but with the little ones, its just too much craziness IMO, so we'll be happy trecking around our neighborhood and the 10-15 houses that do give out candy and be happy with it, and then throw away the majority of the candy at christmas that is still left over...  I wonder if I can talk DH into taking the girls while I stay home and hand out candy.  I know he likes to dress up and scare the kids that come to the door though.

I was feeling pretty lousy today and took a nap when I woke up I had a horrible sinus headache.  I took some advil and ate some lunch and it helped a bit.  Ran a few errands and came home and cleaned out the fridge.  Looks so much better.  No one noticed.  Oh well.  I ran and got me an iced coffee and dropped the glass off at the recycle bin at  the girls school and then got in the car rider line.  We went straight home and got things done, except homework, before going trick or treating.  I messed up and forgot to to ask them.  I made Katie;s shirt with glow stuff and then it didn't glow.  Stupid shirt.  The girls went out and this was Matthews first year to not go but I made sure he had some Kitkats, special just for him.  The girls came and went from the house while trick or treating.  Natalie went out and Katie stayed home so I followed her in the car for a bit and then we went home.  We haven't had any trick or treaters for a while so I think it's all done.  I turned our lights off and the girls ae about to go to bed.
