Our thoughts to all on and off the board that are in the path of Hurrican Isaac right now.  I hope everyone has a safe and good day today!

I'm sorry Ann.

I know how you feel.  Dh says that I should go back and get a counseling degree.

And yeah- in hindsight I probably should have done that.  But no.  I had my mom telling me it was a "stupid" idea.  SIGH.  So what did I do?  Try a degree that I didn't finish.  SIGH.  And I can't tell you how many jobs I've had to pass up that I'd be good at- but you need either a master's in counseling or a social work degree.  SIGH.

And now that's a moot point.  We're in debt for that- and then we're trying to help Kristen get her degree. And Becca's behind her in 3 years.  At least she's considering staying here and commuting- we might be able to swing a year or two if she does that. But I just hope she's not saying that simply because she knows how much Kristen's degree is costing her.

I can't see taking on any more debt right now- hence why I'm looking at anything for a job.

Sorry to be kind of a downer.

Michigan has that law also about starting after labor day, but I dont know when their state testing is. Jordyn's job finally set up direct deposit, I am so happy, don't have to deal with sending the checks into USAA, we've been mailing it on Wednesdays and even it goes to San Antonio from us in Austin, a lot of weeks its not getting credited to her account til the following Tuesday. Its been ridiculous lately. I hope you guys get the bank thing all figured out.

Busch Gardens, Water Country and the Historic Triangle in Williamsburg have lobbied against starting early here.

But seriously- most of those jobs are minimum wage.  It's an hour and a half drive one way to get to those places (we've done it enough with our season passes).  After paying for gas- what teenager in their right mind who lives on this side of the water is even going to take a job there anyways?   So I can see the school systems near there asking to start after Labor day.  But there's no reason why we couldn't start early.

Ah- so that's why Teagen's in school.  I was wondering why only one of your kids was back.

Hi all, it is a beautiful day here, sunny, mid 70's.

Kayleigh spent the morning and part of this afternoon volunteering with 4H at a health fair, I have to pick her up soon.  I took Ian shopping.  He got sneakers, a backpack and a pair of gym shorts. He still needs a pair of athletic pants for gym but we couldn't find anything that fit him right.

Ian is now doing the writing portion of his summer reading assignment.  After picking up Kayleigh, I'll just putter around the rest of the day, maybe start a new book.  I tried The Innocents and The Paris Wife and couldn't get into either of those.  Kayleigh is going to see a show at the Shakespeare festival tonight with her two besties

We are  feeling pretty settled.  The past few days have been a whirlwind of activity.  Dh has been workign plsu freelancd jobs which has left Zeph and I to do much of it alone. DH is left wiht the jobs we don't want...The living room, family room, entryway, half bath, laundry room, dining room, kitchen, playroom and master bedroom are put together organized and most everything is hung.  I do have some dirty laundry and dishes at the old house to bring over still.  Today I am taking it rather easy-laundry, dishes, etc.  The dog is moving in tonight.  The cat has been happy and playful without him.   I've got some pictures to get framed sooner than later too.

Tonight Zeph starts his swim conditioning class.  It is geared for kids are only on summer team.  I hope it is a good compromise.  He is getting to do so much more this year as far as activites because of the switch in swim and we are getting to have regular meal times.  I hope he is happy with the changes.

Off to swap laundry.

It's still Wednesday for a little while yet.

I've had a craptastic week so far. My mom had a moderate stroke on Monday afternoon. She's in ICU, cannot speak, hard time swallowing, left side not working the way it should, angry to say the least. She's also pulling out IV's but she's awake for the first day since the stroke happened.  She also has blood clots in her heart. I don't know what's going to happen.  The nurses say that she is still  in the acute stage of the stroke and to take things minute by minute rather than day by day. Things could go horribly wrong in a split-second.

Today is my 41st. birthday and I spent it in the hospital with my mom. Not that I celebrate my birthday in grand style or anything but it still hurts to not be able to hear her say Happy Birthday Kelly.

It puts things in perspective that life is fleeting and take every chance you get to tell your loved ones that you love them because you never know when they will be unable to say it back.
