In our family, my 3 girls and I got the flu vaccine, my DH did not. Guess what? We were the only ones that got the flu, and he didn't! The vaccine did not protect us for the strain of flu that was going around. The flu vaccine is not 100% protection. At our place of employment, they made the employees who didn't want the shot sign a refusal form. I didn't agree with that. Since I don't think the flu shot always offers protection, I don't think it's right to make people get it. I would be more concerned about colds and stomach issues with young kids than the flu.
I tend to agree with you. My DD was one of the first kids to get the chicken pox vaccine in 1994...she's never had them and neither has my middle DD. Also, FYI, if older kids don't want the shot, they can get the nasal mist vaccine, that's what my older 2 did....but not sure if it's as effective as the shot. I've also seen very sick kids at my work, I'm a RN, who have had pertussis...they were exposed by a non-vaccinated parent and they got it before they got the vaccine...they get very sick. So, anyway, I'm all for vaccines.
Last year when Gab wa sin 5th grade there was an outbreak of chicken poxs in Gabby's ms and the kids who got them did have the vaccine.
I ended up gettin Gab the booster, since I had advance warning.
I never have goton Gab a flu shot and she has never had the flu,she has had strept and stomach viruses but never the flu, which is probably why I don't jump at the chanceto give he rthe shot.

That would annoy me very much.

As a wife of a physician, I look at this from a different view.

I'm for vaccination- to a point.
I'm currently in nursing school, and I had to get boosters of my MMR and a Hep B vaccine in order to be allowed to do clinicals.

This is so incredibly invasive, and it completely undermines parental rights.
ITA with Tracy & Kimberly!
The gov't. should not mandate flu shots...unless they could also guarantee a way for everyone to afford them!
