No and she needs it, I have been terrible about it. Our insurance doesn't cover immunizations so we have to go to the health department to get them--no biggie, but it can be a pain.

I answered it---I don't feel we are to a point yet where we need to make it mandatory, yet I do lean more towards agreeing with that policy than disagreeing with it.

"I had no idea until I did some research that kids that were babies when they got it (and dd was) may have to get a booster in order to be immune."

GREAT--one more thing for me to do @ Sherina's next doctor visit!

Should've read all the posts before I posted!

I still don't think anyone should be forced to get their kids immunized...they may have their reasons, as you do, and no one has the right to judge another.

I actually think everyone needs the booster now.To be honest if an outbreak had not hit Gabby's school last year,I would not have known, that is the only reason she got the booster.Gabby had her first cp vaccine in 96.

That is the only vaccine that Gab had any type of negative reaction to,and it was both imes.

The first time I actually think she had a few poxs, but dr was unsure, because he thought it was too soon after vaccine, the second time her arm was really itchy at the shot sight.

That is interesting because DS is the only one in the family who got a flu shot and he was the only one to get the flu.

Some people are immune to chicken pox after the first shot but it wears off in other people.

The chicken pox vaccine is another one that contains the live virus, so it likely was that Gabby did have a mild case of the chicken pox after the shot which should give her the same type of immunity that getting the actual chicken pox would.

That is what i thought, but we did end up getting her the booster.gab's one friend who did get the chicken pox last year, did not pass them on to his 5 year old sister, who did have the vaccine
