I would imagine we will go for scholarships and student loans.

Um, we're not made of money, but we're helping her learn to study so she can get good grades & let scholarships pay for her college!
Thanks to Kelly (mom2emsopmax) for my beautiful siggy! Photobucket

Even if I wanted to, this would not be an option for us financially.

I will help, not sure I'll be able to swing 100%. I will still expect her to work in the summers. I never worked during the school year but I lived at home so had no rent/food expenses. But I paid for as much of my education as I could. I could usually earn enough in the summer to pay tuition, books and spending money for the year, or close to it. So I'm trying to save but there is a good chance she'll need to go to the US for the courses she's interested in which means paying out of country tuition. NOT cheap. Hopefully she can pull her socks up and get some scholarships but who knows. But there are no sure things, if she has to take out a loan she'll have to but I'd hate for her to be burdened with several thousands of debt before she even finishes school. You hear of people paying off student loans for 20 years, that seems ridiculous.

This is a very sad subject for me. My parents paid for 4 years of private college education for me and I won't be able to do the same for me. Dh and I were not very good about our spending as newlyweds, have made some bad financial moves, I'm home with kids, and his current job is paying sporadically at the moment. Long story short, I don't think we'll be able to swing it. Makes me just sick to think that my parents worked their tails off to pay for my college education and my kids won't get the same from me... I'm beginning to think that my kids will be the first generation that will be worse off than their parents.. :(

hopefully she'll get a scholarship. Her college money is invested in the stock market. Hopefully she won't blow the money when she turns 18.
