1. How many times have you moved in the past 5 years? Why/why haven't you?

2. Are you one of those people who thinks moving is therapeutic? (You know, a time to get rid of things you don't need, etc.) Why/why not?

3. Do you prefer to move yourself, or do you hire someone to do it for you? Why/why not?

Zero....no desire to plus the house we have now is only 4 yo & the 'hood is nice. Don't wanna go thru the buying/selling, closing, packing/moving thing again until I retire, LOL.

Nope, I view moving as more of a big hassle esp since DH is a HUGE packrat & hates chucking things out. Man, we even have disagreements over how much newspaper to put out in recycling cuz he wants to keep it all thinking he'll read it later. Riiiiight.

3. Do you prefer to move yourself, or do you hire someone to do it for you? Why/why not?
We hired someone to move the furniture & packed/boxed everything ourselves so that the movers just picked those up. We're more of DIYers rather than letting someone else do it, not to mention sometimes we're control freaks *heheh* but we know our limits too. Hence having some other guys move the furniture like the couches.

Muahaaahaaa....

1. How many times have you moved in the past 5 years? Why/why haven't you? In 2002 we moved from Houston, TX to Jacksonville, NC. In 2004 we then moved to Leavenworth, KS. In 2005 we moved to Denver, CO.

2. Are you one of those people who thinks moving is therapeutic? (You know, a time to get rid of things you don't need, etc.) Why/why not? Yes I love it! I hate leaving friends but I LOVE learning new places and meeting new people. I love getting to set up and decorate a new house. I LOVE THROWING STUFF AWAY!

3. Do you prefer to move yourself, or do you hire someone to do it for you? Why/why not? We do what's called a partial DITY...we 'do it yourself' with our cargo trailer, carrying the best stuff that we don't want messed up plus enough basics to camp out in the new house. We're military so they contract out (to the lowest bidder usually) to come in and PACK EVERYTHING! They load the trucks, move it, then put it all back in the new house!

1. How many times have you moved in the past 5 years? Why/why haven't you?

2 times so far. First time after DH and I got married we moved from Michigan to Texas. Last summer we moved about 45 minutes south while DH deployed so we could split the drive to work, both of us going 45 minutes instead of me driving 1 1/2 hours and him driving 10 minutes. We will move again next spring, this time only because we'll be buying a house so we won't have to rent anymore.

2. Are you one of those people who thinks moving is therapeutic? (You know, a time to get rid of things you don't need, etc.) Why/why not?

Nope, not at all, I have hated both moves so far, I am a person of habit, I like things to stay the same as much as possible. I'm definately not cut out to be a lifetime military wife.

3. Do you prefer to move yourself, or do you hire someone to do it for you? Why/why not?

I'm not sure honestly. THe first move the military moved us, so they did all the packing up, but I had to unpack, that sucked. This last time we did it ourselves which sucked also.

Oh my, I think my DH may be a bigamist. You've just described his packrat behavior perfectly, right down to saving the newspaper--are you sure you're his only wife? *LOL*

OMG, I am such a packrat! I want to save alot of things, but not to the extent of those women who end up on Dr. Phil. My DH Ken is so not a packrat that I guess we make a good pair. It did feel good in the end after we got rid of all that stuff that we thought we needed! We need to purge again, but not to that extent by any means.
