I don't know that a child would suffer psychological stress from watching Brokeback Mountain but I do not believe that a 12 year old should be shown films about their age in ratings, so a movie where a kid must be 17 or with a parent is totally inapprorpriate and I think they should sue simply for that.

I read that article. I think the teacher was wrong to not get permission. I wouldn't have liked my kids to see that..I didn't see it either! However, everybody is money hungry, that's why they're suing. I wouldn't have sued, but maybe filed a complaint with the principal and consider changing schools, and talk to my DD about it.
I doubt the girl is having that much trouble!!
