I Was Wednesday Wondering......

How often do you take your 10-14 yr old to the theater--either movie theater, or an actual theater type show?

I would say we don't go to the theatre very often. The last movie we saw was Narnia. I'd like to take him more often but it's so expensive to see a movie. He's not a fan of classical theatre so that's not really an option. We used to take both boys a lot to see childrens shows when they were much younger. I'd rather get two or three rentals for the price of movie theatre tickets for four....besides, it's much

What about a music concert?? ~~ He's never been to one. Maybe this year....

Have you ever taken your 10-14 yr old to a concert or music show?

We go to the movies maybe once every 1-2 months--depends on what's showing and how much money we have!

I don't know about your area, but where I live, high school theatre productions are WONDERFUL and are very inexpensive. I took my 7 year old to see Suessical the Musical in November at my old high school. The tickets were $6 a piece, and the production was AMAZING. Those kids were so talented, and the scenery was fantastic. Can't say enough about it!!

We try to go to different high schools when they are doing shows that interest us.

We go to the movie theatre when there is something out worth seeing. Maybe 4 or 5x a year. We have not taken either of my kids to see a Broadway production yet, but we'd like to (we live about an hour or so away from NYC). My Dh and I love the theatre!!

Both of my kids have seen several high school and youth theatre productions. Most recently, my oldest and I went to see Babes In Toyland which was performed by a local youth theatre organization. My friends daughter had a part in it. My youngest and I are going to see a local theatre production of Henry and Mudge in February. The tickets were only $9 each, and he loves Henry and Mudge!

We live in a city that holds one of the largest outdoor music festivals in the world (Musikfest) every August, so we see alot of concerts. We only live 5 blocks away from the center of it, so we walk down a few nights during the 10 day event. This past summer, we took my oldest to see Carrie Underwood. We also see alot of free concerts there, but mostly local or no-name performers.

We don't go to the movies too often. We do Blockbuster thru the mail so we watch a lot of DVDs.

As far as concerts....Wow, now that I think about it Hannah's actually been to quite a few. She went to an A-Teens/Aaron Carter concert quite a few years ago. And then when Aaron Carter came to our town, she went again. (gosh, she was probably only in 3rd grade!!). She also went to see Cher with a friend and her grandparents. She really enjoyed that. (I was suprised--again this was a few years ago).

She loves musicals and we keep meaning to go to the local theater productions but stuff keeps coming up. One of the area high schools is putting on "High School Musical" so I need to find out when that is.

As far as theater productions--she saw a local version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She also saw a traveling Broadway show--Mamma Mia which she loved because she knew all the songs. Man, I keep thinking of stuff. We saw the TransSiberian Orchestra last year, which was really good. The only other Professional type thing we saw was the Rockettes Christmas show in Chicago a few years ago.

I guess she's been pretty exposed to that kind of stuff, good or bad...LOL!

How often do you take your 10-14 yr old to the theater--either movie theater, or an actual theater type show? ~ We go as a family once every month or too, its not cheap to go, so its not an every week occurrence in our home. But our 11 yr old goes quite often with her best friend and her Nana, they go almost every week. The last movie we saw in theatre as a family was Happy Feet, but since then she's gone with her friend and saw Unaccompanied Minors. Btw, she loved it!!

What about a music concert??

We don't go see a ton of movies. Dd is in band and we have seen some smaller bands in parks and such. She has gone to see childrens theater, locally at the American Girl Place when she was younger, A Christmas Carol a few weeks ago and soon Wicked on the 27th. Dh has his degree in theater, so we have an interest in it. We also attend culteral events like song festivals, foreign plays and such. I am tri-ligual and go to these things to keep in touch with my culture and keep my languages up!! The kids just get dragged along! As to popular concerts we haven't done that yet. We have also gone to see local school theater productions and concerts as well. Dh and I attend the opera every now and then, but havent' even offered to take the kids.
