I Was Wednesday Wondering....
How does your child "earn" money?
What do they do with the money--do you make them save or are they allowed to do what they want with it?
Do they have a savings account?

My children don't earn money.
Kelsey does not have a job so she has only about $100.00 saved from birthday money. As a matter of fact she will have her 11th birthday and February and she can't wait to make a deposit. Once Kelsey turns 11 she will be given an opportunity to earn money doing things around the house that are outside of the normal chores. Tegan was looking after Kelsey after school at 11 1/2 so it is only fair that Kelsey be given an opportunity to make money too. The girls do not earn an allowance.
We have been very open with the girls regarding our financial picture. They know how much goes out each month and how much comes in. They know how much goes into their RESP each month and how much has accumulated over the years.
I am curious to see how much people given their kids for allowance. This is something DH and i have talked about over the years and are considering doing as well.

How does your child "earn" money? She use to get an allowance $11 just for being a part of the family. I haven't done this for awhile. I just give her what she needs. She doesn't really ask for much. I don't think. LOL
What do they do with the money--do you make them save or are they allowed to do what they want with it? She can do what she wants with her money.
Do they have a savings account? She has a brokerage acct that my father set up for her when she was born. He and I add to it from time to time. I hate to see what she does with that chunk of money when she's 18. Hopefully she'll won't blow it.
