Did your tween/teen end up going trick or treating last night?

of course she did.
Did they get to go by themselves with friends, or with a parent?

It's become kind of a tradition here, we have the kids friends over for an early dinner and they all go out together from here (no adult).

DId they bring home a ton of candy? And what was your rule on eating it last night?
What about in general, can they keep the candy in their room or do you dish it out?

They brought home too much candy - close to a pillowcase full! Our rules are simple - they have NEVER been allowed to eat one single piece of candy until I use my motherly x-ray eyes and physically check each piece when they get home. And btw, I think they've gotten so scared from me telling them over the years about the possibility of things that 'could' happen they still hand me the pillowcases. All candy is left downstairs on the diningroom table (in front of 'your' chair) but we have never allowed any type of food in a bedroom so they wouldn't even think like that. They can have some daily and in about a week, I'll gradually begin to give small amounts to DH, having him bring some into the office.

Rach went trick or treating w/a gf of hers (her mom too)& came back w/tons of candy as its an older neighborhood w/houses close together. I didn't let her eat any since it was 9:30pm by the time she got home & my girls were spending the night at grandmas.

Both my girls keep theirs in the kitchen & get to have a piece as dessert -- either in their lunch or after dinner.

I was kind of "upset" because my daughter's coach did not cancel her basketball practice. (it was from 6-7:15) I mean geez, they're 7th graders, give them a break. So we had a HUGE "discussion" about whether Hannah should go to basketball or trick-or-treating. She ended up going to practice and leaving 20 minutes early. What really ticked me off (I know this is stupid, but I couldn't believe it) was that the coach's wife had made treat bags to give the girls (I guess kind of a "sorry we're having practice tonight" thing). Out of the 19 girls that practice, 10 showed up. So when my DD and 2 other girls leave, he says, sorry, you don't get any candy because you are leaving early!!!!!

Anyway, yes Hannah went trick or treating.

She went with a group of friends, a couple of adults followed them.

Didn't get too much, but add it to the stuff she got at our church's trunk or treat and it added up to a lot. I think she ate a few pieces.

We never let them eat candy in their rooms. It usually sits in their "cubby" in the laundry room until Valentines day (LOL) and then I throw out what is left!

Did your tween/teen end up going trick or treating last night? Absolutely! :)

Did they get to go by themselves with friends, or with a parent? They each went seperately, with a friend. I stayed home to hand out candy while DH had to give his mom a ride to the airport.

DId they bring home a ton of candy? Oh my yes!

And what was your rule on eating it last night? I was really busy sending off the mother in law and making sure they ate a good dinner before taking off...I actually forgot to give the motherly warnings but they were great, didn't touch a thing until they got it home and we spread it all out! My kids and their friends spent a good half hour negotiating exchanges and tossing out what they didn't want (which went BACk into the give away bucket by the front door! :) They each ate a couple of pieces and didn't want any more...they must have been sick! HAHA!!

What about in general, can they keep the candy in their room or do you dish it out? My son went and hid his in his room but my daughter hid hers in the kitchen in a big cooking pot! They both contributed chocolate to a 'diversion' bowl for dad to keep him from trying to hunt and find their stashes. As long as they're still eating full healthy meals I'm not going to micromanage their eating of it this year. They actually cheered when I let them take some to school today!

Did your tween/teen end up going trick or treating last night? Bien sûr. (of course)

Did they get to go by themselves with friends, or with a parent? She went out with ex for 45 min, then came home and we switched off and I went for another 20 min. and he stayed at my place and gave out candy. She really perfers to go alone with one of us that way SHE can control where she goes and at what speed. Control freak. LOL

Did your tween/teen end up going trick or treating last night?
* Yes.

Did they get to go by themselves with friends, or with a parent?
* He & his 'posse' (as I call them) all went together. All 6 of them dressed up as pirates. They made a 'pirate ship' out of a refrg. box w/handles on the inside to carry it with. They all carried it. It looked like they were on the inside of the ship. That lasted for about 30 mins. Then they came dragging it home & said that it was too hard to deal with. It was a cute idea though! They got some smoke bombs & stink bombs, plus the lighter. Then headed back out. They set out a little after 6pm & he got home right before 9pm.

DId they bring home a ton of candy? And what was your rule on eating it last night?
* Yes. He brought home a lot of candy. Most of it was 'good' candy. A couple of apples. 2 bags of un-popped microwave popcorn (isn't that a good idea?). We went through it together (he gave me the 3 Muskrs & Almd Joys) & put the candy & gum that he can't eat in a bowl for his friends. He has braces. He ate about 3 or 4 pieces. I don't really have a rule because he's not too hoggish when it comes to candy. Now, if it was chicken nuggets & biscuits...

What about in general, can they keep the candy in their room or do you dish it out?
* He keeps it in his snack cabinet that's in the kitchen. I don't have to worry about him eating a ton of it at a time. As a matter of fact, I don't think he's even had any of it this afternoon.
