She has one account my grandmother set up for her a few years ago when she decided to stop buying her savings bonds every year and just put the money in there, and my mom has started to contribute monthly to that account also, but I am hoping to save that and the savings bonds as long as possible.  Looking at things, I should be fine to pay the deposit out of pocket in January and then we'll just have to see what happens after that.  I need to make sure our accountant knows we need to at least have estimates for taxes as soon as possible in January or early February to do the FAFSA and she's still applying for scholarships.  I think a few had deadlines of tomorrow that she may miss which irks me.  I reminded her last weekend to look at all the stuff and I don't think she did.  I'll have to look at the 2 I know of today and see if she can still manage to apply or not.

{{hugs}} Tracy- I hope you can figure it out.

The girls have savings bonds as well.  Some of them have matured.  But we don't need the money- yet.  She's still got money in savings to cover tuition for this semester, and part of next semester.  After that- I don't know.  We've got some money set aside  we could use it for tuition if need be.  But I kind of wanted to use it for retirement.  Which is why I'm trying my darnedest to find a job.

And with Becca deciding to audition for Govenor's school (no clue if she will get in)- she's decided on no AP classes.  Which is ok- I guess. The only really useful class Kristen took was the dual-enrollment English class Senior year.  She said it was the best thing she could have done, there's girls on her floor complaining about how hard and how much work comp 1 and 2 are.

Yes, my brother is doing some more investigating for me.  We are going to wait til its in next tax year, it would be income tax exempt if it was used for tuition, but not room and board.  The bonds are in her name, but technically since we would still claim her as an exemption next year and are entitled to the tuition credits, its a lot trickier to figure it all out.  he is going to talk to a partner at his firm as well as a financial planner to find out for me what are the best routes to take.  Goodness gracious, so much to figure out!!

Zeph cashed in most of his bonds 2 years ago and the rest his past year. He recieved a statement about taxes. Since he is a minor and that was his only "income" we did nothing about it. Since Jordyn works and files taxes already it may be different.

Thanks Heather.  I told her last night its just going to have to wait til after the first of the year.  I know she wants to get it in early to get preference on the dorm she wants, and she didn't realize it was such a big deposit and once she saw that, she had a feeling it would have to wait for a bit, so she wasn't too upset when I told her.  I technically have the money set aside, but that's about exactly how much I have that I had been setting aside knowing she would need to pay for her AP exams come February I think.  I can replace that money after the first of the year, I just hate draining it all the way down right now if I don't have to.  I also needed to talk to my brother about the tax implications if I had her cash in some of her savings bonds that are tagged for tuition and stuff since I was unsure how that worked also.

can I add another worry, or maybe its a whine, or an ugh.  Jordyn just called me about her dorm room application.  We have to send in a $50 non-refundable and $350 refundable fee with the application. sigh.  don't have that money right now, didn't anticipate needing it right now, and this is the worst possible time all of a sudden for it.  I frankly want to cry.

WooHoo: Ian is making dinner tonight

Worry: That Dh is still employed

Whine: Why must the inlaws visit for Christmas? Okay, I know we only see them once a year, but it's hard because it's just us and them.

Whatever:  I really need to make more time to exercise. However, not right now. The cookies are calling me.

Woohoo!  Frodo is so much fun!  The dogs are getting along.

Worries: My nerve issue.  I have so much to do and am not up to doing much.

Whines: DH's travel.  He's been gone a lot and I miss him and his help.  He's tired of the travel grind also.

Whatever: Zeph's attitude has sucked the last 2 days.  He needs to snap out of it.

Woohoo!  10 days til we leave for Michigan!

Whines:  DH has changed the plans on going up to Michigan about 6 times in the last few days and we're back to me doing the drive with all 3 kids by myself...

Worries:  $$$$$$$ and some other issues going on with DH right now.

Whatever:  DH was turning off breakers at the house yesterday "to save electricity", but I got up this morning and he has left the living room light on after playing video games half the night AND he cranked the heat up to 74!  Seriously!!!!  I put an extra blanket on the bed just so he wouldn't be cold last night.  I woke up several times hotter than crap thinking it was just the extra blanket.
