Weekend Bedtimes

Do your kids have a bedtime on the weekend? DS15 loves to tell me and hubby "all the other kids" are "out" (roaming probably) until "at least 10 or 11"....ugh. Thats just not going to happen here. I'm ok with letting my kids stay up later on weekends on occasion, but not ridiculously late (DS also said neighbors kids allowed up until 1-2 am on weekends playing nintendo)....sigh.

If there is a chaperoned event or school function I'm ok with that. But is it wrong to want them in bed at 10 or 11 on Saturday nights when there is nothing else going on? lol.

How late do your kids stay up on the weekend?

My boys are 7 and 11. The 7 year old goes to bed on weekdays at 8:30-8:45. The 11 year old goes at 9. On weekends they can stay up until 9:30 or 10, depending on what's going on the next day. If we don't have anything going on it's not a big deal if they're tired. But if we're going somewhere or they have baseball practice, weekends are no later than 9:30.

Luckily for me my 13 yr old daughter will slide off to bed pretty early, usually around 9-9:30 but my 15 yr old son also thinks he should stay up all night! We make him go to his room around 10pm unless he's watching a movie with us or something. He doesn't sit up playing video games or computer till the wee hours. He may shut his door and read and we'll leave him alone. I figure if he's going to stay up that late reading he'll suffer the consequences when he gets woken up by 8-9am!

Tell your son he's not the only abused kid around here! LOL!

I am pretty flexible. She has to be "in" (if she's outside playing)

If we're just home hanging out, with no plans, my DS11 is usually in bed by 9pm. He is usually exhausted, and requires alot of sleep. He is out like a light within minutes of his head hitting the pillow. My DS7 would stay up until all hours of the night if I would let him. He's more of a night owl than his brother. I make him go to bed at the same time his brother goes.

ETA: They are both definitly in bed by 9pm on Saturday nights because we get up early for church on Sundays. My DS 11 sings in the choir and most Sundays needs to be at church at 8 am for warm-ups.

My DD is 13 and on the weekends, if there isn't anything the next morning, I really don't give her a bedtime!

Depends on what we are doing the next day.

Hannah likes her sleep. She is always the first asleep at sleepovers, so we don't have to really tell her to go to bed.

Nathan (10) LOVES to "stay up all night" (which means 1-2am). If he doesn't have anything to get up for, I don't have a problem letting him. He usually reads, watches tv or plays video games.

When I was 15 years old and in high school, I did not have a bedtime on the weekend.

I agree with you. DDs 11&13 do not need to be up until all hours. It only screws up their body clocks and intereferes with the next days plans b/c they want to sleep in and/or they are miserable.

my dd is a night owl - she'll stay up all night if I let her. She'll go to bed by 10:00 - 10:30 on the weekdays. She'll go to bed around 1ish if she is at a sleepover or has someone over. If she's home she'll go to bed 11 or 12. :)
