Jordyn was sick 1/2 the week with the flu, bad. She is very grumpy when she is sick :(
That honestly was about it for our week. We didn't do much at all.
This weekend, lots of household chores, laundry, I have a projects list a mile long of things I want to get done before the baby comes and want to get started this weekend. This is also our last weekend before competition season starts, so we will do a lot of just relaxing. We both have a 3 day weekend, so I am busy making plans for a girls' day out on Monday, breakfast and starbucks, a pedicure in the morning, maybe a nice lunch and some time browsing the bookstore in the afternoon. I will try and sneak a dental appt. in for Jordyn if they have an opening (but we won't tell her that quite yet) and then she will have practice in the evening and by then I will probably need a nap.
Week was sunny and almost warm! Kids were good, hubby was away for a conference in balmy Dallas all week!
Weekend? Denver. Arctic cold...Taking the radio dj's advice: Curling into fetal position under two feet of blankets and sucking my thumb until it warms up next thursday!
Tuesday - Kristen had archery and was kind of whiney, I think more because of the pending surgery the next day. We also found out her French competition was the next day so it was a bit of a panic as we tried to practice.
Monday-got a call to pick up John cuz he was puking at school. Kelley did ok with the new organization rules for school I set up. Tuesday-John home sick with the flu. Kelley doing real good with homework and chores. Wednesday-John still home sick with the flu. Kelley..same..she is having an awesome week! Thursday-John STILL home sick with the flu and driving me nuts saying how bored he is!!!! Kelly...remembered FOUR days in a row to do her planner and her chores. WOW, I think I am going to faint!! Today (Friday)-YEAH..John went to school. Its a good thing to cuz I was ready to strangle him!!! He is not so much grumpy when he is sick but just complains about being bored! Kelley...no late assignments ALL WEEK!! And she has had an awesome attitude this week...wow...I think she gets to pick the movie tonight for sure!
This weekend is meant for cleaning and reorganizing Kelley's room. We are going to go through and get rid of all the crap she doesn't use anymore!! WOOO HOO!!! Of course there is still soccer practice, raffle ticket sale for soccer team, and a soccer scrimmage as well. So here we goooo busy weekend ahead!
Tuesday: worked 9-3:30, Ian had afterschool gym, dh had evening meeting
Wed: worked 9-3:30
Thurs: worked 9-3:30, Dh had evening meeting
Fri: worked 9-3:30, Kayleigh went to a friend's house after school, Ian had a friend over here, Dh and Ian going to cub scout pack meeting tonight, Kayleigh and I hanging out at home watching tv
Weekend: Tomorrow, grocery shopping and errands in the a.m, then Ian has a basketball game and I'm taking Kayleigh and her friend to the ice rink. Sunday, taking down the Christmas tree and teaching a class in the evening
Overall it was a pretty good week though each of the kids forgot/lost homework once. Last night was a discipline nightmare. The kids started poking each other and fighting in the back seat. After two warnings I pulled into a gas station and turned off the car. They still kept at it so I made them get out of the car and sit on the curb near the front of the station. They continued so I made them face opposite directions. After they calmed down a little I let them back in the car and they started up again. I made them get out again and Evan starte pulling the handle and rocking the car so I made them move away from the car and pulled to the side of the gas station. Didn't take long for them to get under control then. They got in and continued to argue and tease. I got out of the car, locked it and walked away for a minute or two to calm myself down. When I got back in the car, I told the kids I wanted to hear nothing until we got to church. Things were fine after that and once we got to church we were all distracted. What a drain on my psyche!!! Megan got a speaking part in the 1st grade music show and Evan got 100 on his fast facts test in math this week. Oh and Evan qualified for a tri-state swim meet next weekend both days (Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning). Yikes! That weekend is going to be CRAZY busy.
This weekend is crazy busy too. Both kids have gifted class tomorrow morning and Evan has swim practice in the afternoon. Sunda morning we'll go to church, Sunday afternoon Megan has a piano jamboree (mini recital) and then we'll watch Da Bears cream the Seahawks.
It was a typical 5 day week (sandwiched between 2 short weeks) for work/school.
Not so typical, and not so good, at home. My MIL was diagnosed with lung cancer and the prognosis (is that spelled right?) doesn't sound so good. It's been 10 years this week that she quit smoking cold turkey, but she had smoked for about 40 years. She's survived bladder cancer, kidney & lymph node cancer (mostly with surgical removals).
The only thing out of the ordinary besides the grim news was that Aly & I went to my school's basketball game. I am sooooooo glad that I don't have an athletic child because even cheerleading would be just way too hard on me. It was one night, but 4 hours of games and I only had a 6 mile drive home...the students/parents had a good 35 mile drive home. But the kids were so excited to have me there and I saw former students, too (both 8th graders from the same school and 7th graders from the opposing team--I student taught at their school when they were in 5th grade). Not many teachers go out to the games unless they have to work them (I worked 2 football games this year).
Weekend plans: I'm invited to a vow renewal for another teacher, however we may plan to go visit MIL at some point, so I don't know if we're going to make it to the vow renewal. If we do go, Mike probably won't come...just me & Aly.

We're getting to feel like that here in Washington
My week was pretty good, it really flew by actually.
This weekend nothing major is going on..Sat Kiana has basketball practice, and Sunday she has a game.
I think on Sat I'm going to go looking for 2 new cordless phones, and then to sears to look at freezers.
