I am so tired it's not even funny!

Brooke won a trophy for making the advanced team for next year. She and her friend tied for highest score with 104 out of a possible 106 points. Then she won a trophy for Most Outstanding Student for her age group. I was so surprised and excited that I about cried. I was sure her friend was going to win and when they announced Brooke's name I teared up so bad that I had to get up and go start setting up the reception to keep from bawling like a baby! Both sets of Grandparents were there to see her win it too, so that made it even more special! She also got 4 certificates.

Last night was recital and I had to set up for the reception and then I got drafted to help my friend line the girls up after each routine. Then every parent except the two of us left and we had to clean both bathrooms, clean the bleachers and mop the entire gym floor by ourselves! We got the two girls to work on the bleachers for us while we did everything else. Then today, it happened again. We got stuck serving at the reception while the other Mom's went on and ate and left us to clean up. I was on my feet from 7:30am to 4:30pm and I am worn out!

Congrats to Brooke! That's great!

As for the cleaning up.... sounds like there needs to be assignments for setting up and cleaning up so it's not left to the responsible ones like yourself all the time. It's not fair, and perhaps the other parents aren't totally aware they're supposed to be pitching in.

She won Most Outstanding Baton Student of the year. I realized after I went to bed that I forgot to say it was for the baton part. Her friend won the Most Outstanding Pom Pom award.

The other Mom's knew there was cleaning to do. They were told Tuesday at practice that we had to clean and then they were asked point blank Friday evening to stay and help. Three said they had a funeral to attend, one said they couldn't because they rode with someone else, which was a lie because someone saw them drive off, and the others simply gathered their girls and left. One even asked me how much we had to do and I laid out the list and she said ok and left.

It was ok. It was worth it all to help out and to see Brooke's face when she won that trophy. She is talking about taking private lessons next term(they take the summer off) so she can do solo routines at the performaces next year.
