We had a great trip.
We left Thurs night and arrived at the hotel in Southaven, MS (highly recommend THIS hotel) about 11pm. Upon check-in, we heard that the area (which was just south of Memphis, TN) was under tornado watch.
We went to the Memphis Zoo on Friday--saw the pandas, polar bears, and many other animals. GREAT zoo and active animals.
Had no idea that the eastern part of the state was being hit by tornadoes at the time, or that western Arkansas was hit on Thurs (we drove into--barely--eastern Arkansas as well). (Thoughts & prayers for the families dealing with the tornado tragedies as well as the wildfire tragedies.)
We ate some real Memphis Bar-b-que at Central BBQ (a hole-in-the-wall place).
We drove out by the river and downtown Memphis, and we did pass by Graceland. The grounds are beautiful, but I had no desire to do a tour.
Saturday, we headed to Birmingham--got to the hotel about 4, unpacked, showered, and headed out to see Wicked. Got in almost at midnight, and hit the sack. 3am, Aly was moaning in her sleep and woke herself up (waking us up) with high high fever--don't know how high, but high. All I had was adult Tylenol/Advil and she can't swallow, but we tried anyway, no such luck. So I went get some children's Tylenol at the convenience store close by. It was for ages 2-6, so Aly had to take 6 (probably 7, since that was just to age 11, 95 pounds, but I just gave her 6).
We left Birmingham at 11am (checkout time) and headed straight home as Aly was feeling really yucky. She also has the symptoms of a cold, including chest pains from coughing.
Well, not straight home, we went to SIL's (down the street) where they still had crawfish...yay! Aly was MISERABLE there, and slept in the bed until we were ready to go.
So, we're home now, and we have pretty bad weather outside. Were under a tornado watch, but don't know if that's been lifted or not.

Sorry Aly is sick!
So how was Wicked and where is the food porn?
Wicked was absolutely wonderful!!! I'm so glad I didn't know the whole story going in because the twists & turns that I wasn't expecting made the experience all the better. Wow, wow, wow!!!
Food porn pics coming soon--just the Memphis-style BBQ, though. And get this--MIKE is the one that made me take the pics--made me go back to the car to get the camera!!!
Really didn't do much eating. Our 2 hotels both served a great hot breakfast--Fri morning--waffles, yogurt, toast, muffins, pastries, cereals, biscuits, gravy, boiled eggs, & ham. Sat morning--the same except scrambled eggs in place of boiled eggs and bacon in the place of ham. Sun morning (Birmingham)--all the same, but no meat.
Had Memphis-style BBQ for lunch Friday that filled us up and even though we had leftovers (mini-kitchenette in the room, so we put them in the fridge & had the microwave), we ended up throwing them away Sat morning. Sat ate at Ruby Tuesday, Mike had a Rally burger after Wicked, but Aly & I didn't eat anything else. Sun, we ate at Burger King on the way home. No crawfish pics either, but nobody would think taking pics of that is weird..lol.
Sorry I closed FB out--I wasn't paying attention.
BTW, the actress who played Elpheba also played her ON BROADWAY, isn't that cool????
LOL..I didn't mean of the people eating it, but of the crawfish itself.
But I'm sure some people would volunteer to have their picture taken while sucking the heads...lol.
No, I had adult Advil with me, too. She was able to swallow it ONE time back in January, but she hasn't been able to since.
Wicked was GREAT!!!! Even better since I didn't know the story, the twists & turns really made it.
Okay, okay!
Tonight.
We're headed to the doctor's office and to Payless for crocs & flip-flops.
