Welcome, Toy! I moved this post up into our discussions folder for you, so people will be more likely to see it and respond. Here's a link to your post, and I've pasted the text, below.

This might be too general of a question since it is difficult to group them. Let me start at the beginning. My husband and I are considering adopting an eleven year old girl. Before I contact social services about her, I want to do a little research about eleven year olds. Can you tell me what your eleven year old is like? What are they into? I realize this child will come with some issues. We will deal with those. I want to know about the normal issues parents are dealing with concerning their preteen. Any info would help.

Thanks,

Toy

(I don't have time to answer right now, but I'll be back. Glad you found our board, and I know you'll get some terrific responses. -Janet)

So glad you stopped by our board with this question! I have 11yo boy/girl twins. I have found 10 and 11 to be *wonderful*. Yes, a little bit of attitude is starting, but it's sort of play-acting like a teen ;-) The basically still want to play with mom & dad as well as having an increased interest in peers. My dd still loves to be helpful, even though she can also get into a snit if I say the wrong thing. Like with everything else, each child is different! But, most of us seem to notice some moodiness at this age, and an increased desire for independence.

Good luck with this important decision, and please feel free to ask more questions.

Janet

(Since I reposted in the "General" folder, I'm afraid you'll have to check both places. I noticed you did get a response below also.)
