Would you believe that Quinn doesn't have spelling words this year??? Yippy! He's in the 7th grade. I recall having spelling words last in the 8th grade. Spelling is not his thing. I would load his weekly words into his Turbo Twist spelling thing (made by Leapfrog) & have to make him do it at least twice a day. He managed to not fail any spelling test with that thing. I am trying to remember what sort of words he had last year, but am drawing a blank.
So far Kristen has been disgusted with her spelling worlds. Because, off, have, they, said, friends and laugh. And what's scarey is that some of the kids in her class can't spell them. Sigh. She has a class full of kids who are on an IEP for language (and math) and it seems like they are dumbing down the class to suit everyone. She's a pretty good speller overall so I don't worry about it too much, but its really frustrating and boring for her to have to do that basic stuff all over.
still in fourth grade. I know my daughter hopes to get spelling overwith soon. As for math does that twist thing work??? My daughters math skills are slow.
I happily celebrated last year when my oldest was in 6th grade because there was no longer a weekly spelling test. WooHoo-this ends in 5th grade for us.
My youngest is in 4th so he still has weekly tests. This week the words include: sounds, skunk, different, protesting, absent, stretch, product. He has 20 words at this point. The Bonuses for this week are: Annapolis, Maryland MD and Washington, D.C.
Rach is in 5th gr so still has spelling words like beneficial, cooperation, multi-task & coordination but she also has to pick out words from her reading book that she is unfamiliar with. Her assigned reading is "Summer of My German Soldier" & some of her words on her sheet are: subservience, psychiatry, percolator & affirmation.
Kayleigh doesn't have spelling words, that's strictly an elementary school thing here, once 5th grade and middle school comes, no more spelling.

No spelling words here either! Last year and this year, 7th grade, instead of spelling they do vocabulary (which kind of includes spelling).
Karin
spelling words are pretty easy but lately they have been directed to one side if you get my drift.
criticize, repent, faith, chapel, priest, forgive, cross
