Cancel both!

Your dd needs to understand that she is not allowed to give you an attitude and talk back.

I guess what I was having trouble with is that I know this is a part of normal pre-puberty. I realize the hormones are flying, and I know I myself tend to get very crabby for no reason at that TOM. Even though she hasn't gotten her period yet, I'm sure the hormones are getting prepared. Also, I've always tried to make the punishment fit the crime as much as possible. Instead of grounding her because she breaks something, she helps to fix it or helps pay to get a new one. I just haven't been able to come up with something that fits attitude! I did warn her yesterday that her attitude has been getting out of hand the past couple of days, and if it happened again, no sleepover. Of course, she had no idea what I was talking about! GRRRR! I guess the fun has begun. And I decided to cut back on my work hours this summer why?

oh i agree. If i was to talk to my mom like the way jackie talks to me. I would have been beaten. But my problem is i am not one to "beat" my child. So how do you start making her listen and give the respect that you want? Tell her to go to her room? Great that is playtime for her... her room has the joys she likes. She would love to go play, however that kind of punishment does not fit this type of crime... So maybe make her do things that she would not like to do..... example in my house that would be helping me do something....... so instead of sending her to her room, I have started making her help me do things. I keep correcting her when she smarts off while doing so. But it does not always work out in my favor. SO im at a loss......

When I send my kids to their rooms they KNOW not get off that bed.Tv is unplugged, music player unplugged, phone&any other electrical device is taken away.If she gets off the bed, she's looking at an hour instead of 10&14 min..and the key is that they KNOW I mean business..

i understand. When i put jakie in time out she knew back then i ment business. Im sure if I was to send her to her room she knows that im not happy with her. So it would work but I dont see it as punishment for the crime..... I feel better knowing she is doing something that she does not want to do and should learn from it. By making her stay around me and help me out seems to make the situation better..... i guess if it gets really "ugly" then i wold send her to her room. I wish there was some other way to get through to her.. LOL
