The boys' friends usually call me by my first name or "Mrs. Lisa" (I think that might be a southern thing). My boys call our next door neighbor "Mrs. Kathy". I like it because it shows respect without getting too formal.
My children's school friends call me Mrs. The next door neighbors call me by my first name. This was by mutual agreement at our first family get-together with them. The children of our good friends call us by our first names. I actually have no problem with being called by my first name, but it's not the custom around here. I do like that suggestion from the south!
I have more trouble when I use the phone and have to tell a child on the other end
Formal here; I'm Mrs. K and aunts and uncles are Aunt or Uncle So-and-So, and teachers and scout leaders are Mr. or Mrs. as well. It's just always been that way here. OTOH, I was 'Matthew's mom' for a LONG time when he was little!
I am new to this board, I was looking for advice about my daughter when I came across this post. My daughters friend asked me this question just yesterday. She has always called me by my first name but she said that her dad was uncomfortable with that and wanted her to use the more formal Mrs. instead. I told her that I was comfortable with either and to talk it over with her dad some more. One of my older sons friends has always used the more formal "Mrs" title and it never feels quite right to me. I always have to take a quick look around to see who he is talking to!
Welcome! Did you find the topic you were looking for? I haven't read all the new posts yet, perhaps you've posted already. If not, please do! Glad you found our board!

While I insist that my kids use Mr. & Mrs. with adults (in most instances,) I don't really like being called Mrs. ____.

I thought it was very cute in preschool when ALL the kids called the parents "Matthew's Mom" "Seth's Mom", etc. at pickup time.
I was "Samnrachel's mom" - like it was one word, LOL!
