The board's been rather quiet, so I figure everyone has been off doing exciting things and having the time of their lives.

Well, my jet-set lifestyle being what it is it's hard to remember all that's been going on but I'll try LOL.

Sean's been a typical preteen.

Well, were in SF last week on spring break; spent wayyy too much, but had a great time, and our leg muscles are now solid as granite!

Matthew(11.5,6th) is doing well, though this is the quarter he always has trouble with (no clue why; prepared totally, but freezes on tests and such, and then thaws a bit 4th quarter). He's decided that practicing violin at home is 'pointless' as he'd rather do it with a group (like in daily lessons at school). Yet his teacher wants 1/2 hour 6 days/week, so it's been fun. He's pretty good about getting homework done without asking, unless it's a long term project (such as his gifted teacher gave them on this last quarter 'off' (they have gifted two quarters), due next week at the start of the next quarter -he's got about 1/2 hour left, but it's been like pulling teeth to get him to progress as it wasn't imminently required). Luckily they usually have week-long projects or shorter, which he copes with well. He earned Star in Boy Scouts this week, and starts baseball practice this weekend.

Other than that, we're just putting up with the cold, rainy weather here in the St. Louis area, hoping for warmer spring winds to come soon!

That project would get him ready for the Boy Scout merit badge called Personal Management - great stuff in some of those badges...Matthew'll be doing it over this summer, saving up for our annual relaxing getaway to Michigan (were we veg on the beach or just look for shells). Those go-karts are WAAAY to expensive for my tastes - he can save for them!!

Great news about Emily's report card - that's always a good feeling.

Hi! I can relate to the violin practice. I have a 10 yo son in 4th grade who is supposed to practice 2 hours a week. The other day he told me he needed more motivation to practice! So, after I told him I wasn't going to "pay" him to practice - this is like homework, right? He said he wasn't asking for money - so we agreed that if he could go two weeks without complaining and getting all of his practice in - we'd go out for ice cream. I hope it works!
