When you eat out in a restaurant....

Does your tween order from the kids menu or the regular menu?

Most of the chain places (Applebee's, Perkin's, Friday's, etc.) have kids menus that are good for up to age 12. My DS still orders from them, but he orders the same thing every time. Chicken Fingers. He's developed more discriminating tastes, though, but those darn kids menus are so limited!!

The best kids menu I've ever seen was on vacation in NH at a 99 restaurant. They even offered chicken caesar salad!

I don't look forward to the day that he orders from a regular menu though...our bill will be so much higher!

My tween had order from the adult menu for about two years now. When we tried to make him order from the kids menu, I ended up sharing my food with him so it wasn't worth it.

Good question! My tween eats off the adult menu and occasionally will take the kids menu just for the activities. My yds Brandon who is 9 still eats off the kid menu and mostly orders the same old things...pizza or chicken tenders. I thought it was cool at first when Matthew wanted to eat off the adults menu but he orders expensive things...rack of ribs, shrimp dishes etc.

Kayleigh, who turned 11 last month, still orders from the kids menu although I know that will change very soon

It depends! We went to Texas Roadhouse for my DH's birthday last night and they actually have two different kids menus (both 12 and under, though). One has bigger portions. I've never seen that before.

I think she mostly orders off the adult menu because the variety is sooooooo much better. My DS on the other hand seems like chicken fingers is all he EVER eats.

My DH is already telling her she is an expensive date (usually goes right for the steak!)

Melissa, 11½, usually still chooses something from the kids menu. She's a chicken finger type of girl. Kristen, 9½, OTOH, usually orders from the regular menu because she's got discriminating tastes and crinkles her nose at the idea of only being able to have chicken fingers, burger, hot dog, mac 'n cheese or pizza. I can't say I blame her, but it is more expensive that way.

The only time Melissa will always choose something from the adult menu is when we're out with my inlaws and my mil keeps pointing things out to her. LOL... she never finishes the food and I can tell she'd probably have been happier with chicken fingers, but since mil usually pays when we go out (she won't allow us to pick up the tab... ever!) I keep my mouth shut.
