I was looking up a clinic for someone and came across this clinic is Wichita, KS. They do elective abortiosn through 24 weeks and over 24 weeks for medical issues. A lot of PL people claim that abortion clinics lie about fetal developement so that people will abort well this clinic has this link on their homepage http://www.drtiller.com/bk1.html

<They do elective abortiosn through 24 weeks >

Week 22

(24 weeks after the first day of the last normal menstrual period)

  • The fetus is about 8-1/4 inches from head to rump and weighs about 1-1/4 pounds.
  • Changes are occurring in lung development so that some babies are able to survive (with intensive care services).
  • Surviving babies may have disabilities and require long-term intensive care.

I know fetal developement this isn't a thread about are late term abortions bad(which I dont think they are seeing as i had one) the point was that this clinic was not lying to these women like many PL people claim clinics do to get women to abort.

We'll have to agree to disagree since I don't agree with the idea that it's OK to abort a fetus that may be viable for elective purposes.

Do you know if this clinic also provides this booklet in print at least 24 hours prior to the abortion since many woman may not have access to the internet? Do they have to keep a log or have a woman sign saying that she received the booklet (similar to what you do when you sign the HIPPA forms)?

I don't know whether that specific clinic does, however, I know my OB/GYN's office provided that for me when I went for the first checkup. Also, when I made my appt to terminate, I was required to call and speak to a doctor who outlined all risks, and detailed the procedures, as well as provided information on fetal development. This had to be done at least 24 hours before my appointment.

Seeing how I've never been to that clinic no, but I think putting it online is a BIG step for a clinic. Most people have internet acess via home, work, school, or public places. I know for myself you have to cross state lines if you want an ab over 14/15 weeks depending on the clinic, so you google clinics that do it.

Well up through week 22 they do a nice job of protraying what the fetus does look like with colored and accurate pictures.

"But at 24 and 26 it turns into a vague drawing. And at week 28 it appears we are seeing an umbilical cord and a leg. Could they not have found a better picture? Week 30,34, and 38 are also those quite undetailed drawings. And at week 36 is horrible. That doesn't look anything like a 36 week old fetus."

So now, it's not enough that sketches are given? They must be up to your standards? If someone is not convinced that those drawings are accurate, they are welcome to look elsewhere. I don't believe that website claims those sketches are the be-all end-all.

So the text next to the pictures doesn't do anything??? That is the important part I think. It gives

My standards mean nothing in this situation.

And did I not say that up to 22 weeks the pictures were very accurate and good??
