Abortion instead of contraception

This article is about abortion statistics in the UK.

Parts of it are scary.

In particular

The statistics, for 2006, showed nearly 15,000 women were having their third or more abortion, while 54 of those had terminated eight or more pregnancies.

But Mr Pritchard, the MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, said abortion was being seen as an alternative to contraception "in far too many cases".

>>is that wrong?<<

that varies from person to person. Often nothing is wrong

>>women are dying to have children of their own and women gladly decide to take it...over and over and over and brag that they will do whatever is neccessary to stay childless...that hurts<<

does it hurt more than a woman who wants to stay childless because she has a mental illness having a baby she later abuses and kills?

>>and what is even more hurtful are the women who think it is ok to have abortions because they think childbirth is more dangerous and unhealthy.<<

as someone who has spent time in critical condition TWICE in an attempt to reproduce I would argue that sometimes it is.

>>i think women are just uneducated and need to be far sooner than they teach in school.<<

uneducated about what? The ACTUAL risks of pregnancy and gestation? I would agree. It is shocking how many women do not know what pregnancy can do to their bodies. In fact I think real information would act as better birth control than the threat of a cute cuddly baby

>>yea childbirth is hard and can be devastating for some but it was worth it..<<

for you. Some people obviously feel differently as people do abort after having children

>>i dont know what i would do without my son...he is the love of my life<<

any my sons are/were the love of mine but it was because of them (and 4 other pregnancies) that I can not stand people saying 'just' gestate and give birth. If you want to be taken seriously then you need to acknowledge that things are not that black and white.

Also sometimes abortion is best for the child imo as long as euthanasia remains illegal

You are on the fence for rape but not medically necessitated abortion? I have to say that one confuses me.

If the mother is going to die she will by default take the fetus with her as a dead uterus can not sustain and grow a fetus. What is the point of both of them dying when one can be saved? How is that pro LIFE when your stance causes needless death?

Careful, it might turn out to be mutual....

<>

What? That some women would rather not have children? That's their personal choice and it's nuniya. Maybe I think it's deplorable that some women have children they are in no position mentally, emotionally, psychologically and financially care for and raise. But I won't paint an entire gender with a broad brush ;-)

<>

Actually, that's even more nuniya. But it's actually the basis for their rights- and may never even be a factor in their decision to abort. But it's the cornerstone that establishes a woman's right to administer her health care independent of the opinions or beliefs of those who do not inhabit her body, bear the brunt of the sacrifices and risks in her stead or live with the consequences.

<<.i think women are jus uneducated and need to be far sooner than they teach in school....>>

Do you support factual sex education in schools? At what grade?

<<.yea childbirth is hard and can be devestating for some but it was worth it....>>

For YOU. For someone who never wanted to continue a pregnancy it may be a different story.

<>

As are my children :-) However, that doesn't mean I impose my choices on every other woman.

Medically NECESSARY abortions? Te woman should have NO rights to preserve her health and/or life? So basically a female embryo or fetus has more rights than a born baby girl? Passing through the birth canal subrogates her rights to future zygotes, embryos and fetuses....
Nice.....

I think it would be breathtakingly irresponsible to have a child while one is homeless and drug addicted. Having an abortion is BY FAR the more responsible and kind action to take. I shudder to think of the poor child born into such an environment.

Dang - under your idea of things, all of my children would be aborted - there goes my tax deduction!

Reagan's mother - labor induced due to the fact that she would be homeless 2 days past her due date..

Evan - mom pot head and cocaine user

Tristan - mom pot head crack head

Ella - pot head, crack head

The three were all born to a woman who was abused throughout the pregnancy and the born children abused as well.

A society that punishes it children and unborn for the sins of the mother is not a civil society.

Do you think it was responsible of your children's birth mother to continue bringing children into a drug-addled, abusive situation?

I certainly do not.
