Abortion instead of contraception

This article is about abortion statistics in the UK.

Parts of it are scary.

In particular

The statistics, for 2006, showed nearly 15,000 women were having their third or more abortion, while 54 of those had terminated eight or more pregnancies.

But Mr Pritchard, the MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, said abortion was being seen as an alternative to contraception "in far too many cases".

I am absolutely flabbergasted that you could translate my statement that it's irresponsible to have a child when you cannot feed or house them, into a statement that the children born into those conditions are somehow blights upon the world. I can only assume that this is a reflection of your own beliefs that those who need social help are thieves/not trying hard enough.

Let me try to explain this. If you are going to have a child, you should be able to feed, house and clothe that child by whatever means necessary (including social assistance). If you do not even have a roof over your own head, it is an abdication of the sacred responsibility of parenthood to bring a child into that situation. However, once a child is actually BORN and is therefore a person, all possible means should be used to ensure that the child does not remain homeless and hungry (including social assistance).

Your assertion that I think "all adopted children or orphans or children born to addicts and the poor" are blights upon the world is DELIBERATELY offensive - I do not believe for a moment that you actually believe that I think this, nor that it was an unintentional slight. Your behaviour on this board has demonstrated to me that you have no interest in understanding anyone else's position, but take a perverse joy in twisting and misrepresenting the statements made to you in good faith.

No, it was not 'deliberately' done to offend you.

<<- I do not believe for a moment that you actually believe that I think this, >>

You advocate abortion of children based solely upon these factors and state that it would be irresponsible to birth these children.

"Interpreting things as they are written and compared with past posts from said poster does end with a conclusion."'

And when the interpretation is incorrect, when you use words the other poster did not use, when your "conclusion" is out and out wrong, and you refuse to re-evaluate when you are told it is wrong by the very person whose opinion you claim to "know,"

Hardly. Saying children should not be born to parents who are homeless *and* addicted to drugs is hardly saying that all children born to the poor should be aborted. It is also hardly saying that your children (or all children born under such circumstances) are blights on society.

I wish my sister didn't decide to have four children. I love those children more than life itself, but I was tired of the way she manipulated me and my parents into supporting them because she could not. When I asked her to please, please wait to conceive another child (her third of what is now four), she said that I must have hated her other children, then, to think that she should not have more.

That, Angil, is the same as what you have inferred from Lianne's argument. And it is hardly what she said. It is a straw man.
