Abortion is latest controversy in Health Overhaul
What do you think about
I think it should be in there.. I'm a state employee and I have coverage for one a year. And I pay for my insurance not my sd (I pay $712 each month for my medical for my dh & myself, my district only pay $307) and if I'm going to be forced to give up my insurance plan thru work (which we get to deduct from our taxes)then I want it there (not that I have used it)
Abortion is a medical procedure and therefore should be covered by the plan just like any other medical procedure.
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, if it's a truly elective choice, then I would say no, I wouldn't pay for it just as I wouldn't pay for someone's boob job. On the other hand, it's cheaper than paying for welfare for someone for 18 years.
Therapeutic abortions should be covered, no question in my mind, though.

I am trying right now to get a breast reduction payed for by my insurance company. I am a 44 DD (and have been large busted since I was 13) I have OA in my spine as well as back spasms from my bust, I'm on muscle relaxer daily because of it~~so why shouldn't I be able to get the surgery that my Dr recommended?
I don't know.
As an aside, here that surgery, under those circumstances,
I thought about that as I posted it, but E was griping so I didn't have the opportunity to go back and change it. Of course there are medically necessary reasons to have a reduction, just like there are medically necessary reasons to have an abortion. What I meant (and I'm sure you already knew this) was the people who get implants just because they want to be bigger. These people are all over iVillage. I don't want my taxes going to that.
OT, but you and I wear exactly the same bra size. I sympathize, and I get so annoyed at people who want to be this big so badly they'll have a surgeon cut into them and put implants in to do it. I have permanent dents in my shoulders from my bra straps, and it wasn't until E was born that I knew what it was like to have a really, really comfortable bra.
