another look at the remains "story"

This is an OP-ED piece. Just want people to know what they are reading.

http://www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/comm/oped/Remains.shtml

Isn't it interesting how the Life Dynamics guy was paid for his "work" and yet the fact that he's a known liar doesn't make it into the story.

Also, the last word I found from congress on this, in 2001, indicates they are still waiting for information. If there's any to be found...

Has this board deteriorated so much that we now accept unverified stories as actuality?

Your article is biased as well. It was after all, an oped piece. Just because something is illegal, doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. As far as a 'known lier' where is your proof of that?

What do you believe is done with the remains and what do you believe SHOULD be done with them?

You can't really do research if you can't publish research about fetal tissue. One always has to mention the company name and lot number they got biological samples from. About the only one who could pull off such a black market stunt are the supply companies themselves, and I don't know how they could get a profit selling fetal heart after buying a fetal heart that cost an arm and a leg when they can just use a recently deceased person's heart instead for much cheaper.

So I guess the real lesson of the day is not the fact that fetal tissue is being secretly sold to science labs to make a profit but the fact that perhaps abortion clinics are trying to make the woman "feel better" by telling her that hey, even if she feels guilt, she'll know her fetus is going to benefit the medical community as a whole.

New twist on things. Any thoughts?

That could be why I said This is an OP=Ed piece. That's a little different from saying lookee here, this rabid group says this is happening and they have no proof and I believe 'em. Just 'cause.

It really does not do the PL agenda any favors by being so willing to believe unproven stories. So, hey, by all means, keep it up.

Thanks for the counter-information. Contrary to what you may believe, I do like to hear both sides of the issue. However, it's been hard to dissect the facts out of these articles because both are so biased (I know-you warned me). Ok- so to my understanding- it's ok to 'give' fetal remains to organizations like drug companies as long as the fetus provider(abortion clinics) doesn't make a profit? And the "illegal" practices of some abortion providers is what was reported on and used in congress. I don't think congress really needed to present the illegal practices (remains for profit)- the 'legal' practice of giving it away is bad enough. That is- if I interpreted that correctly.

Ah, so because you can't do research, you just *know* that this is happening?

I see.

Your post cracked me up:-) And I agree, blindly spreading missinformation does the PL movement harm rather than add to its "credibilty." So I'll second your sentiments to those who like to spread that kind of info...keep it up!

PS. The twins are huge! Just weighed them this a.m. Emma's up to 11 1/4 pounds, Ben is 10 pounds. They are both laughing and smiling and generally carrying on. Can't believe how fast they grow!!

Yeah, well, just to give you a heads-up: That "generally carrying-on" thing? It doesn't go away. Ever.

Don't mind me, I love my gal but she is NOT an easy child nor is she likely to be. Too smart by half and vocal to boot (okay, *that* was predictable). It will stand her well in adulthood if I can survive until then. We went with a friend to the Museum of Fine Arts yesterday and it is thrilling to see your "baby" running up and reading the plaques and then discussing whether or not she prefers the Picasso or the Gaugin. And why. She's in this weird place now where she can read at least at the 4th grade level and start philosophical discussions but still says "Sgabetti" instead of "spaghetti" 6 and 3/4 going on 35. Hard to keep up with, you know?

It's amazing how FAST it goes, Mysh. Enjoy the baby years, every day of it.

I do plan on sending Abby pics but had to wait to payday to be able to afford to develop them.

Glad the twins are doing so well!

LOL, oh my, isn't that just cute??? Was that an atempt at witt???

<>

Do you think that we (pl) are just stupid and expect that everyone else it? If you do, you are wrong. I know that when I post an OPED piece that others will see it as that. When I post a fact, I will do my best to post backup to it.

<>

Lookie here??? No, just sharing information and opinion regarding the topic of this board. There are no FACTS that make abortion humaine and there are no facts to back up that the unborn don't 'feel' abortion, and there are no facts that abortion is not WRONG. Point - that most of the debate is not about facts. Rabid??? No, rabies leads to death, and if I were to compare a side to being Rabid, the I would have to say it would be those people who are so militant in their belief that they would 'attack' the unborn with PBA. But, that is an OPED statement. Do you require back up???

<>

LOL, again, cute. The PL agenda - what would that be enlightened one? Unproven stories - is Holly's one of those? How about the FACT that most PC here will admit that fetal remains are sold and sent off for research purposes? TSK, TSK, TSK...

<>

Don't worrie dearie, I will. You do the same. I think your attitude and rudeness will help further the PL agenda enough on it's own. LOL!!!

I am impressed with the way it turns out that when some PL are obnoxious, make personal comments, post diatribes and unproven "facts" it's because they are "passionate"

And when PCs ask them to prove their claims or point out that said claim is not valid, they are "rude"

That's a neat trick.

I point out that it's an Op-Ed so that when people say "that's not necessarily true" I can say well, it's an *op-ed* piece. Get it? You notice I DON'T take myths and stories from PC sites, without back-up, and post it as *fact* Know anyone that does?

Yes, I'll stick with the Rabid. Lately, it's about as rational on this board as a Salem, MA courtroom in 1692.

Rant does not make right.

I just want to say that I cannot imagine raising twins. My little guy is such a handful all by himself. I cannot imagine TWO of him the same age. I admire your strength.
