Underage girl was trying to get a judicial bypass to get an abortion. Very interesting twists and turns, and the judge's summation was the best part of the script.

Trying to remember the main points.

Family is Chinese (this is pertinent).

Daughter is I think 15 years old. Came to the US a few years ago. Very bright, well spoken girl.

Mother is opposed to abortion and convinced daughter will regret it. Thinks she knows her daughter better than she knows herself.

Daughter retains Alan Shore (James Spader) to get a judicial bypass. Alan asks Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen) to be 2nd chair because he really wants a woman to help argue the case. Shirley has doubts about the case and feels they should defer to the mother. Alan convinces her to sit, but some comments lead her to believe the only reason the daughter wants to abort is because the fetus is female. Shirley is opposed to this.

The girl did win the bypass. What I found interesting was that Shirley had had an abortion at some point in her life, but seemed not ok with some circumstances that a woman/girl may choose one, particularly sex selection done in Chinese culture (and others).

I know right from wrong.

Wrong is the fun one.
