Just wondering the thoughts about a baby waiting spiritually for enterance into the world. I know many women with miscarriages who have felt that the baby comes to them later. Are abortions the same??

I have no idea. I've never (knowingly) had a miscarriage and definitely have never had an abortion so I'm not sure how I'd interpret it. Personally, to me, I think it would be too creepy to think that the next pregnancy was just the same "baby" all over again.

I really don't know. I never held such a belief.

I don't believe in any kind of afterlife, heaven, reincarnation, etc., so I don't think anything really happens to the "soul" of an aborted or miscarried baby.

Hmmm....I think I do believe that a soul who is waiting to be born gets another chance, in a way.

I'm adopted, and sometimes people on the PL will say, "aren't you glad you weren't aborted?"

For me I think of each being as separate in of itself but I guess the belief that it is the same soul is just another spin or reincarnation and would just be a matter of if the aborted soul WANTED to come back to the same woman

"I know this is kinda weird stuff, and it fall firmly in the camp of faith, not science. I didn't learn this in medical school ;) But I know that you can understand all the science and still have faith :)"

Gespenst,

Complete threadjack but your daughter is BEAUTIFUL. I love the multiple pic siggy.

Now to the original question. Never really thought about it so I don't know what I think. I'll go and ponder and see if I can decide.

I tend to think that the soul of a baby who is aborted will have another chance at life. Possibly with the same woman, but more likely with someone else who is ready for that life when the life is ready to appear.

My family believe that my mother's two miscarriages and one stillbirth were all my youngest brother, trying and trying until he got through :o)

My cousin and I once had a very interesting conversation about this exact topic. While I don't have really specific beliefs regarding this topic, she was convinced that if a person is meant to be in her life, they will be. For example, if she ever had a miscarriage or had to have an abortion, she believes that, if it's meant to be, that soul will come back to her in some way. It might not necessarily become her child, but maybe it would become my child or her next door neighbor's child. Or possibly a future grandchild.
