Ok, I personally don't believe in abortion. I would never get one. And as I sit here, one day overdue (due aug 17th) I could never imagine killing a little life inside of me.
However, can we tell other women what to do? Why do women get abortions? I suppose if they were all financially stable and ready, they would keep them? Do we force women to have their babies, but not be there to help them afterwards? Of course the ideal thing is don't get pregnant until you are ready. (That's what hubby and I did, and truly its not too hard to do, its called birth control) But birth control fails, women have said.
I kind of feel like its a damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I know people have said at the very least have the baby and put it up for adoption. Actually we have laws in our state (maybe he whole country?) that you can leave your baby at a police dept or hospital with no consequences. I fully agree with that. This way the baby is safe, instead of with someone who doesn't want it.

What if we force women to keep their babies, but they try to eliminate it themselves though drug use, smoking, or alcohol? As of now abortion is an option and we still have women that choose to keep the baby and still abuse their bodies and inturn give birth to fetal alcohol syndrome babies and babies addicted to drugs. Think of all the ones that choose to abort, then they would have to keep there babies?

I just don't know. I'd love to say no one can have an abortion, but then you risk bringing children into a world where they are not wanted or able to be cared for. What do we do as a society??

I don't think anyone has the right to tell anyone else what to do regarding their health and body. I would have an abortion if I got pregnant, I don't want children and nothing will make me change my mind. I would not raise a child if I was forced, I would probably rather be dead than forced to raise a child I don't want.

Also, just because you never had an issue with birth control does not mean other people don't. Your statement is rather judgmental as people have gotten pregnant after having their tubes and and using the pill. It may be rare but ti does and can happen.

"What do we do as a society??"

We do just as we are. We allow a pregnant women to make a choice if she finds herself pregnant. Not all people want to have a baby or want to risk their already born children by having another one. Pregnancy and babies are great to those who it. I happen to be one that doesn't.

~I'd love to say no one can have an abortion, but then you risk...~

As an aside, I would have died without one.

I don't even count or debate medical risks, because anyone that would insist on making a women keep her baby even though it would endanger the mother's life is just cruel.
I'm talking about abortions for other reasons.
And I'm not talking about rapes either.

I just don't feel comfortable with letting women kill their future babies because they don't want them. Lucky for the other girl that posted, her mom didn't feel the same way about kids as she does (She'd rather be dead than have kids) or else she wouldn't be here.

BUT, I don't feel we have the right to tell a women what to do.

I wish if left alone, all women would make the right decision on their own.
I'm really focusing on the women that have abortions because they were irresponsible.
I only know one women personally (as a friend) that had an abortion. She was sleeping with 3 different men that month and said she didn't know who the dad was and really didn't have time for a baby. Those are the women I'm talking about.
