How should we determine personhood?

There's another thread where there seems to be an irreconcilable difference between the two sides of the debate.

The big difference lies in whether a z/e/f is a fully invested person w/ all the rights of personhood.

In general, the PC side states that a fetus isn't a person w/ legal rights until it is born.

***If the abortion debate hangs on personhood, then it will never be resolved.***

Maybe it's all just a matter of opinion in the end.

I dunno if that helps but it is the way I see it. If that's what you mean by personhood.

Well, see, that's the whole problem.

***Are you saying that this is the one definition of consciousness? And therefore life and personhood?***

I'm not too sure about the 'personhood' But yes, consciousness.

<<Why is the shameful part that another poster said their names? Calling them "2 halves of a person" and a "parasite" probably would offend them far more than their names.>>

It's harder to be offended when you don't know you've being discussed, and again I was never actually discussing them but conjoined twins in a similar situation to there's where one twin was in fact quite living off the other.

It's much easier getting *hits* on Yahoo or google using ones name then using discriptive factors.

Since you find it "extremely disrespectful" to use names, I am sure you wouldn't mind removing the names you included in your post (the one I am replying to #4964.43).
