"It kills me that you really beleive that only deciding factor in one being pro-woman is abortion."

It kills me that you continue to make these type of statements.

"It is right to be contented with what we have, but never with what we are."

Aw, don't be sad. It's just your INFERENCE form my post, not what I was actually saying.

I haven't seen any evidence to show they are or they aren't yet. However, when rape victims are basically told to suck it up, well , that's pretty anti-woman in meaning and intent.

When one states that an entire country is anti woman or that they are 'really pro woman' (sarcastically), as in her post that I was replying to - it indicates that abortion seems to be the factor determining pro woman or not.

I guess I don't see it as blatently 'anti woman' but rather just stupid policy to deny a rape victum an option of an abortion.

They why do so many site back alley abortions and the deaths due to those types of abortions as a reason for the legality of abortion today in America?

"Some would say that the 'future' women that will be born due to the abortion ban actually make the ban more 'pro woman' simply by allowing them to be born."

And it would be incorrect and bizarrely convoluting logic

"so how is it that 'WE" have those stats but Ireland doesn't?"

I don't know for sure, but I can speculate:

Why we may know more:
1. We know more about the dangerousness and pervasiveness of backalley abortions now than we did then.
2. We have an interest in knowing the scope of these activities, as we want to be sure that we have made the right decision. As such, we research such things.

Why they may know less:
1. Since abortion is illegal, women dying from backalley abortions may be listed as dying of something else. Kind of like all the people who died of AIDS in the late 70s and early 80s but their death certificates didn't show them dying of AIDS, KWIM?
2. Since the government has an interest in keeping abortions illegal, it would be folly to show that making abortion illegal does not make it go away.

These are all plausible reasons.
