I heard this on a radio program the other day...
That maybe the reason prolifers are so outspoken is b/c they never got a chance to vote on something so big before it was signed into law.
No - I can think of dozens of laws with a huge impact that have been passed without a ballot initiative.
Income tax, Miranda rights and Desegregation to name just a few.

I think it has a lot to do with history and context. Consider women's suffrage. The first serious American petition to give women the right to vote, the Seneca Falls Convention, was in 1848. So it took what, 72 years to get it done? It took tons of lobbying to make it happen.
I think if you give it another 20 or 30 years, discrimination based on sexual orientation will seem as silly as denying women the right to vote. It's sad that it takes that long, but it probably will.

No, I don't think that's why prolifer's are outspoken...the ones who speak out do so because they believe it is wrong to take a human life, even if is not born yet.
I am new here, and thought I'd jump in with both feet.
I am so outspoken on the issue of abortion because I feel that life is more than just a choice for one to make in regards to ending.
"Pascal's Wager," which states that believing in God costs you nothing if you're wrong, and wins you everything if you're right.
