The time limit for abortion was kept at 24 weeks last night in the first vote on the issue in 18 years.

I was just wondering how that turned out!

Probably you have heard about this, but one of your Conservative members, Nadine Dorries (Mid-Bedfordshire), wants late abortion put on television.

I was wondering the same thing if there are exceptions made for fetal or maternal health

<(In cases of emergency, is the time limit disregarded?)>

Yes, completely.

I hadn't actually heard about that, but I would suggest that if we're going to do that, we should also put c-sections, episiotomies and stillbirths on TV.

There was one good point made by Ann Widdecombe (a woman I despise) which is that at present you could have one fetus that is being terminated and another of exactly the same gestational age that is born, in a cot and with medics fighting to save its life.

Why would a fetus have to be aborted at that late stage if a mothers life was in danger? Why wouldn't they just take the baby early?

Because some people would not be willing to take the risks that come with sever prematurity

I guess I was thinking further along. How about at 32 weeks?

Abortions during that time frame are extremely rare and usually done in cases of severe fetal defect on a *wanted* pregnancy.
