I'm not sure about other forms of chemical bc, but I asked about the Pill last year (for other reasons, not birth control).

Since BCP can make you prone to having a blood clot, anyone with a clotting disorder (like Factor V Leiden, which my DH has) should probably not take it. DH's doc said about 5% of the population has this particular clotting disorder, which makes you prone to getting a blood clot in the leg.

Not wobbit but am going to answer anyways about why some people cant take BCP

When I take hormonal birth control (I have went through 9 types of pills and depo) I am unable to function. For some reason (presumably because I am a freak of nature) Artificial hormones found in birth control causes me to bleed excessively. On some brands I would bleed non stop until I am taken off them. that means 3 months because my doc told me to give them that long to see if my body would adjust. On other brands it is bleed 5 days stop for 2 bleed 5 more. Other brands are constant spotting with NO periods. WHen I went on teh Depo I was fine for the first 2 months and then got so sick I was fainting every day. When i went off it I bled for 6 months straight.

Hormonal birth control inhibits my ability to clot (I know exact opposite of what it says on the box) Because of this it causes dizzy spells, fainting, headaches ect from the almost constant bleeding. I have went to a hematologist and they are absolutely dumbfounded but due to the fact i REFUSE to be pumped full of hormones so more testing can be done they have no idea why it happens.

My mom is the same way though.

Oh that is on top of the expected side effects

That's more a reflection on her individual friends not the PC stance. PC are just as capable of being sympathetic to women who regret their abortions as PL, just as they'd be sympathetic to women who regret giving birth. PC would rather that women didn't regret their reproductive decision be it gestation or abortion.
